I was trying to figure out which Samuel Johnson dictionary to pick up. It looks like the whole thing is digitized on Google books where I found it. I'd still like a copy though. Of course I looked up some important words from the 2nd Amendment, and I won't bother to include every letter, but the simple definitions just for fun.

This is all circa 1775:

Keep

to retain ; preserve ; maintain.

And

particle by which sentences or terms are joined.

Bear

to carry a load, to support, to keep from falling ; to carry in remembrance ; to endure ; to press ; to be fruitful.

Arms

war like weapons ; war in general ; the ensign armorial of a family.

A

an article set before nouns of the singular number, as, a boy, a dog.

Well

not amiss ; rightly ; properly.

Regulate(the word regulated not listed)

to adjust by rule.

Militia

a national force ; train-
