Laura Ingraham had Paul Helmke on there talking about 50 cal sniper rifles & they're talking about gun show purchase loopholes, "cop killer" bullets, chasing the AW ban. Congressman Scolese from Louisiana is on defending the 2nd amendment.

What a mess:rolleyes:

She ended it with this phrase..."Guns don't kill people, porous borders kill people."

All in all, a decent interview. She let Helmke have it in some instances.

For the lazies...
Rep. Steve Scalise & Paul Helmke With Laura Ingraham on Assault Weapons

Laura Ingraham hosted Assault weapons ban debate between Paul Helmke, president of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence and Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA), member of the Second Amendment Task Force.

Helmke said that there are very few laws on the books regulating guns and Mexico does so they come here to get their weapons. Scalise said there are tough gun laws on the books - and that Mexico is getting assault weapons and other weapons from South America and that Attorney General Eric Holder will put American in a less safe position with restrictions on guns. Ingraham noted that legislation from Bobby Rush could put major restrictions on gun ownership.

Helmke said the US has never tried gun control in the US, and the shootings in the US prove that point. He said that this is the anniversary of the shooting of President Reagan. Ingraham said that major crime has gone down as gun laws have loosened while Helmke said that it started with the Brady laws earlier on. He said that there are a few laws and that the Supreme Court said there can be more restrictions on dangerous weapons, according to Justice Scalia - while Ingraham said he didn't say which restrictions would be upheld.

Scalise said that HR 45 and other potential laws are brought up when there is a crisis to chip away and law abiding citizens rights and taht most criminals break laws on the books when they commit crimes.

Helmke would like to see background checks on all gun purchases and to place restrictions on bulk sales. He'd like to see ATF strengthened.

Wow... Really?

I'm currently sitting here looking at the two ATF books that include the entirety of all 50 states firearms laws and the federal regulations. In total, the books are almost 2 inches thick.

Very few laws on the books, huh?
