Is this open to the public?

I just might be able to get that day off... If the powers that be on calguns say it would be useful...

If anyone attends, be sure to see if you can get comments in to your reps or the committee that if the state goes "shall issue", the state then runs the program and controls the dollars reaped from the program. In this time of state money woes, surely a profitable agency would turn heads!

Yes, it is open to the public. The meeting starts at 0900. Call 916-319-3744 for details. She said that if the bill moves through, there will be a vote that same day.

Will CalGuns.Com organize an effort to cause as many of us to attend as possible?

We should start working on our presentations, and suggestions/tips on what to say should be stated in either this thread, or in one that is "sticky'd"

Erik.

I've never attended a hearing before, but I think I might need to go to this one. My rep is extremely extremely extremely (yes all three extremelys are necessary) hostile to gun rights. Is there anything I can do to make an impact in this?

For those of you who go to the hearing, if any of you get a chance to talk, I would focus on equality under the law, the unprofessional conduct of sheriffs using the system for personal gain.

Let's face it, the sheriff has a advantage raising campaign funds that opponents would not have.

No. your rep will vote exactly how your rep wants to vote or how your rep thinks he/she should vote knowing that less than 1% of his/her constituents support CCW and it scares the hell out of the other 99% (and we all know it) I'm just crazy enough to say it.

That said - please go and show the flag - support the cause.

Ummm.....this is really big stuff, folks. I'm surprised there's not more hoopla over this. Can the CalGuns powers send a mass email out to all members of CalGuns to get attention to a public hearing on this? Everyone who can attend should attend. Any women members here? Getting a female pro-CCW presence there would be fantastic.

This should be a capitalized, bold sticky.

Would someone be so kind as to post NAMES, EMAIL ADDRESSES and PHONE NUMBERS of everybody on the committee? Thanks.

I'd go but I'm in Washington State and a plane ride would bust my budget.

Just out of curiosity, why isn't the Calguns leadership encouraging attendance as they did for the most recent Nordyke hearing in SF? In Nordyke, I presume our objective was to show the judges that a lot of well-dressed people support the second amendment.

What's different?

I remember reading posts about how Jerry Brown supported Heller and is on the side of gun owners. Maybe this is his opportunity to show his support at the hearing. Jerry Brown getting behind this effort to pass AB357 may go a long way for some of the politicians on the fence.

Does anyone know if he is attending the hearing or offering support behind closed doors?

I expect not considering he has recently been quoted as supporting a new FAWB.

I talked with Assemblyman Knight's staff person, he really could use our help.

Even though our chances of victory are slim, what we do is we create a public record that will come back to haunt the legislature.

Our presence here should help future lawsuits since Judges will know the legislature won't do the right thing.

Hmm. Got a link to that? I wonder if that means his support is limited to not being hostile to hunting and target shooting?
