Just checking to see who here is a lawyer. For future use, it might be good for us to keep a list (for referring clients, if nothing else).
Just state your practice area(s) and location.
I'll start:
San Francisco / Oakland
Mass Torts / Some gun law

Shouldn't there be several more options:
"No degree is necessary to practice law on the Internet."
"No, I learned everything I need to know by being a pro se plaintiff"
"Yes, in fact I am an attorney and I'm helping the Brady Campaign defend the Second Amendment. My name is Gary Gorski."

Any chance you know people at Winston & Strawn in the city? I have a friend who is a partner specializing in IP there.

Wow...a lawyer thread with censorship. Interesting contradiction.
I want to keep this thread useful - so I asked the mods to clean up the "off topic" posts in this thread. Some of my posts got deleted too, since I was the one who kind of took it off topic in the first place.
EDIT: we all started posting random stuff about cats - if anyone is wondering why the thread got cleaned up!!!
Moving forward, let's keep this thread ON-topic. There's a real need for lawyers for the cause, even if they don't do "gun law," they can help in other ways. So it's good to know exactly who here is a lawyer.

No, I don't. But I always like to yak with the hardcore IP wonks. They're usually pretty interesting, since in this area that usually means some sort of lawyer/tech geek hybrid, like me. :)

I don't think I know anyone there. I know some Winston folks from the LA office, but I don't think I know anyone in SF. But it's a small world, you never know when that situation might change!

Hmm. I may suffer partial CRS right now, but I think another 2.5 years of practice in CA will qualify me for non-tested admission to the Texas state bar. That might be neat, assuming I'm remembering correctly. :)
Or maybe I should go sit for the Nevada bar and do NFA stuff there.

Jason - (no PM's - what's the deal) I'm just down the way from you in Mission Viejo. You probably shoot over at Oh Target. Contact me and we'll get together. (just lawyer to lawyer - you know b/c no one else will be seen in public with us!)

Sounds good! Shoot me over your contact info (jason@calgunlawyers.com). FYI I don't take PMs because people have a tendency to discuss A/C Privileged info in these thinking that they are actually private. And, there is a very specific reason I do not take PMs, which I hope to make public very soon.

All right, I'll come out of the closet.
I'm in private practice, doing 95% civil/commercial litigation, in San Francisco. And I'll take a guess that I'm one of the few people around here who have actually tried gun cases as a prosecutor, in a former life.
Ok, I'll own up too.
10 years now in large firm corporate, securities, finance and real estate (transactional only) in Los Angeles.
Feel free to PM me with any questions, etc.

Well, I went to Southwestern for 2yrs. a long time ago and stopped enjoying it, so I stopped and did what Liberty1 does now instead.:)
Over the years, I occasionally thought about returning, but once married with kids, just didn't have the $$.
If I had, it would be 35yrs.

Against my better judgment, I'll fess up. Just don't hold it against me or report to me the State Bar!
14 years, criminal defense, socal.
I once successfully defended an AW case on constitutional grounds. I prevailed pre-trial so no precedent.
To Whiskey Sauer, I've tried gun cases in front of juries. One time a cop planted a gun on the suspect. Poor kid. He was convicted despite my best efforts. You weren't the prosecutor on that case, were you? :)
Cruising calguns makes one a more proficient practitioner.
Give me three years, I start this Aug.
I'm the same, where are you going?
Transactions lawyer in Silicon Valley. Gearing up to start out on my own after many years of big law firm and in-house practice.
Admitted in NY and D.C., waiting for results from CA bar exam. May 15 is the big day. . .

I know one Calgun member who is a prosecutor. He takes a pretty conservative view of all of our efforts and is somewhat dubious of some of the arguments in support of magazine rebuilds and other issues.

I am impressed by the number of lawyers we actually have on this board.
I hope that maybe we can create Calgun tribes all across the state.
Seems to me we have alot of potential chiefs(Lawyers) and lots of braves(non lawyers who would do grunt work) to really shake things up.

I may not be a lawyer, but once when "I was gambling in Havana, I took a little risk..."
Also, note the following Q&A:
Q: What do you call a lawyer with an 80 IQ?
A: "Your Honor."

I'm quite confident that we are visited by quite a few of the honorable on the bench.
I'm routinely amazed by the lurkers on CGN...

Let's see, cop planting gun on suspect? You'll have to be more specific than that. ;)
