I have been thinking... Oh know:p Anyways I have been thinking we as gun owners need a way to make guns a everyday positive thought.. We need a way to get people thinking about our right as americans to own guns.. we need to find a way to get people thinking about losing their right if they have guns or not..
Well I was thinking that if we as gun owners got together and pitched in we could start putting up billboards around Ca and the nation for that matter..
I am talking about non threatening informative billboards.. Billboards that make people think.. facts about gun crime, facts about guns, facts about the 2nd ammendment, facts about how our country was founded..
I am very close to starting a campaign.. I think it could do us as gun owners a ton of good.. It could do americans a ton of good.. It is a way to speak up and not have a extremeist(bad example) make us gun owners look bad
Would anyone like to join me? I am thinking of setting up a fund that folks could donate to. Starting a websight and making a go of it.. give me your feedback...

What gun people need most is to get people to see guns without them in the picture. I'm serious. Most people think of gunowners as old, pot-bellied hillbillies who are ex-military and drive pickups.
A campaign would involve maybe celebrities or other respected people NOT fitting the typical stereotype who talk about the relevant issues, not just "Guns for everyone!" but about how guns can be useful, fun, and in some cases, a good investment.
The NRA is useless so they wouldn't do anything. Who is left?

I dont see a need to have one person in a billboard
but who is left you ask?? the normal american.. the fact is there are TONS of everyday americans who own guns but are affraid to even talk about them because of fear of being frowned at by anti gun folk..
I just want to educate with facts, and promote the 2nd ammendment and what it means:thumbsup: and what is at danger of being lost..
People are worried about Marches and rightfully so.. All it takes is one Dipstick to make us all look bad.. Billboards with straight facts in a non threatening tone with what is at stake is what I am hoping to do.. Get people thinking, get people used to seeing guns and gun ownership in a positive light

Would GOA support such a project?
I envision a billboard of a "Rainbow" of People with their guns.
caption: "My guns have never hurt anyone"
or "Keep America Free'
or "Gunowners are Americans, First"
I think it's a great idea.

I think that billboards could be very effective in provoking thought...
Perhaps we could use some of Oleg Volk's compelling imagery... primarily focusing in on equality issues of women, blacks and homosexuals... Though I dont think Volk has done the latter, it would be a mind crunching message to illustrate that criminals cannot bash a gay with a gun on a billboard in San Fransisco.

I think this is a great concept for a pro gun campaign.
Need a non threatening message up front, maybe start with the lever action and revolver if guns are to be depicted, I think they ought to be. Its an image Americans are not accustomed to seeing out side of the TV or movie screens. Drive time is good for discussion and the BB will start it.
Maybe some competition cowboy shoots (most all like a good western).
Moms soccer team at the rifle range.
Boy Scouts at the range.
Norman Rockwell type art?
Support will come with a good plan.
Okay I'm in, who's the Project Manager for this?

Done in the right format I think the bill boards would be very educational. They may pique the interest of many who may ride the fence on gun rights only because they only hear the bad news about guns. I like the idea!:)

web SITE
Site: the position or location of a town, building, etc., esp. as to its environment: the site of our summer cabin.
Sight: the power or faculty of seeing; perception of objects by use of the eyes; vision.
good idea, keep in mind the "truth" commercials you see on mtv.

it would be interesting to see if you get any push back from the billboard companies. I hate to say it but I have a feeling they may reject putting anything about firearms up.
I like the idea of just putting up facts.
