View Full Version : Functions Check for SA Loaded 1911

So I took apart my SA 1911 and had a hard time reassembling it, but I eventually got it back together. I'm kinda worried if I put it back together properly, any way I can check it? Besides the usual pull the slide back and pull the trigger? I'm mainly worried about the recoil spring assembly area. Everything fitted together and looks like the way it should...

With unloaded gun...

Safety on, pull the trigger with proper grip to disengage the grip safety. Hammer shouldn't fall.

Safety on, hammer back. Try to push the hammer down. Hammer shouldn't move.

Safety off, hammer back. Do not disengage the grip safety and pull the trigger. Hammer shouldn't drop.

Rack the slide, put a pencil or pen with the eraser or flat top of the pen into the barrel. Point in a safe direction and pull the trigger. Firing pin should hit the pencil or pen and knock it out or cause movement.

Another quick question if anyone could help...

when i lock the slide back on the Springfield 1911 loaded models, should I be able to see the guide rode? it extends out a little further than the barrel, or did I assemble it wrong

It uses a 2-piece guide rod correct? Yes that is fine.
