Finally! The wife and I picked up our new guns today. Luckily the place we bought the guns at also had a healthy stock of .45 ACP ammo (picked up 4 boxes of Winchester white box 230gr). Also if anyone is interested, they have another identical XD-45 tactical /w nightsights there as well. Old West Guns in City of Industry. Their prices are probably a little high, but the people who run the place are very nice, that and they actually had an XD-45 in stock when we were looking.

Mine is the AO 1911, hers is the XD-45 Tactical /w night sights:

Very nice gun. I am almost afraid to ask what 4 boxes of WWB for the .45 cost at the gun store. With the price of the ammo, I am sure the OP could have gotten the SA TRP Operator .45 if he had not purchased the ammo. LOL.

Ammo was fairly expensive at $23/box. While I was there someone bought 4 boxes of .40 and a couple boxes of .45. He was also saying that he was having trouble finding ammo.

Anyhow, tomorrow after 6:00pm you will probably find my wife and I at the OC Indoor Shooting Range in Brea giving our new guns a proper run through a box (or two) or .45.

It wasn't my wife's first color choice. She wanted the stand bi-tone or all black, but the only thing we could find was what they call "Dark Earth", and we decided to go for it.

Eh, put a black rubber handall sleeve thing on it and you'll be fine.

Just got back from the range + cleanup. Absolutely love them. The trigger is a little stiff on the 1911 but the short trigger mitigates that somewhat. I actually shot better with the 1911 and its tiny GI-type sights as opposed to my wife's XD /w night sights. Go figure.

Both guns functioned flawlessly and we had a great time.

I have a XD45 tac in FDE also. I love the color. Its not shinny like that in person.

I have to say I love the trigger feel on the XD, a heck of a lot nicer than my 1911. I still shoot better with the 1911, but I also have 10 times the ammo through it by me (my wife usually is the one shooting the XD).

The shine in the picture is because of my camera's flash. It is much more matte looking in person.
