Well, it's almost been a year already, and it's high time we had ourselves another shindig. The meetups in SoCal have been hugely successful, with very impressive turnouts. Looking back just one year, only a fool could deny the progress we have made! It is very exciting and fulfilling to know I was part of this. Due to some personal issues, I've been less active in practicing open carry the past 6 months, and I feel the need to do more... so I've again volunteer to plan and coordinate this event.

What: Second Annual California Open Carry Dinner
When: Saturday, April 18, 2009 at 5:30 PM
Where: specific location TBA, but will be in Sacramento

Please RSVP no later than April 1 by private message through this forum! If for some reason you selected 'maybe,' please PM me with a message to that effect. Last year the 'maybe' crowd made up for the no-shows and cancellations, so please don't be discouraged if you simply can't promise to attend. The poll above is just to let everybody else know what they're going to be missing out on... you have to PM me if you want to attend.

Last year it wasn't on Patriots' Day weekend, but it certainly was an historical day - the first semi-formal meeting of great patriots from all corners of the state. Whether you were there or not, feel free to enjoy the stories and pictures of free men found in this thread. Heretofore I propose that we have this annual meetup on Patriots' Day weekend (the civic holiday is actually the 3rd Monday of each month, but that's a tough day to plan events on). It just seems fitting.

Anybody wishing to show their support for Open Carry is welcome to attend, even if you don't wish to carry. (IIRC, we had 7 armed last year, with 13 total in attendance.) All you have to do is RSVP by PMing me your e-mail address, and I'll make sure you get the details and a friendly reminder about a week in advance. Once I know how many to expect, I will make a reservation at a suitable restaurant. Details will be distributed much in the fashion they were last year.

If you know a good restaurant that can accomodate a large group on a Saturday night, please PM me the name & address of the business. This year, I'm not too worried about school zones. Last year it limited our options way too much. So, this year we all just may have to keep our firearms locked up until we get onto the private property where we'll be dining. Assume this is the case unless told otherwise - I don't want anybody violating 626.9 on the way to/from the event.

The time I picked is arbitrary, as I feel last time it was just way too much work to try to get a concensus. I hope that with 5 weeks notice we can all get the day off work and rearrange other obligations.

I'll be there. I encourage all former and current military members to also attend, especially Veterans. We have sacrificed much to enjoy our Constitutional Rights, and we didn't do it just to be spit on by the same Government that ordered us to defend them in the first place.

"..Uphold and Defend the Constitution.." includes the "keep and bear arms" part.

Ill be there!

BTW: Last year you OCd at the restaurant I WORK AT!!!

I wasnt aware of the dinner, and halfway through my shift another server came up to me with a surprised face and said all these guys at her table had guns. Well, I assumed it was some CGers so my response was "So?" I didnt get a chance to stop by, but it seems like it was a good turn out.

What are the odds that a CGer worked there!

The waitress was very nice and gave great service. Too bad you couldn't stop by the table. I think we left a 30% tip too!

CitaDel, Don't think I can swing it this year.:(

Can I bring a AR pistol strapped to my leg?

You could but lets keep it more kosher and traditional in the early stages of UOC. We're trying to win the heats and minds of leos and the fence sitting public so standard handguns in standard belt holsters is the recommended and requested type.

If you think having a UOC conversation with the police can be challenging consider the mind blowing conversation following the introduction of an open carried bullet button AR-15 OLL pistol with a 10/30 mag :willy_nilly::willy_nilly::willy_nilly:

Thank you in advance for not :p.

I thought you would get a kick out of that one, I don't even own one.

I am actually apprehensive of even buying an AR pistol (even though I want one and they ARE legal).

I know I would feel a little sketchy at the range shooting it of a LEO approaching me and asking where in the heck I got it from.
