How long is a misdemeanor police report kept?
The report was filed in 1997 or 1998. The person looking for the report was the subject who was arrested.
He has never actually seen the report due to very poor representation. He was 18 at the time.
He has called his old law firm, been to the arresting police agencies station, the DA's office, and the court records office. The answers were in order, it has been destroyed, we do not give those to the suspect, we destroy them after ten years and the court records office said that they can not give them out to a past or present defendant and they did not have a copy.
The above actions were recomended by his current lawyer.
There was an envelope he noticed in the file at the courts records office that said "confidential" and the woman would not open it or tell him what was inside.
It is very important that he find this report if it still exists.
