The UN Global gun grabbers say that small arms across the world are causing death and destruction.
From what I see the price of AK47's in many parts of the world is around 100 USD.
Gee, I was thinking. What if we had a "Sponsor a AK47" program for US Citizens.
Here is how it would work.
You would donate say 200 dollars so that peace corps type workers (CIA)could go around to hot spots and buy up the guns quietly.
To make sure that the guns have been bought up, they would be shipped back to the US.
Once in the US, one of two things would happen to the gun.
1. The gun would be de milled and sent to the donor. This way the donor would know for sure that there was one less AK in a thrid world country since they would have the gun. This would have accountablity.
Of course de milled parts could be used to build a AK with a US receiver. We don't want total junk, otherwise few would donate.
2. The donor would have the option of paying a fee to keep a working model. In all honesty the fee would have to be kinda step, say 500 dollars plus a 200 dollar transfer and it would be classed as a clsss 3 transferable full auto.
Cost of a full auto AK would be approx 900 dollars. The 500 dollars could be used so that there would be funds to buy thing like RPG rockets and heavy machineguns.
Of course I am not limiting this to only AK47's, the sponsorship program to help disarm the rest of the world's hotspots would save lives, the fact that it would lead to a large increase in registered full autos would be a "unplanned side effect".
If the "Unplanned side" effect resulted in say 1 million plus registered full auto's, it would open the door for a challenge on the NFA restrictions because the fact is "full autos" would be more common.
Hey, the UN complains about a glut of small arms worldwide in the wrong hands, I just thought why not have a global gun buyback that is funded by American gun owners.
After all, the American Taxpayer shouldn't be asked to take on any more debt and with American gun industries unable to keep up with domiestic demand, this proposal shouldn't effect the domestic industry too much.
You would think that Obama should jump on this, after all, doesn't he care about the children of africa and other 3rd world countries:p
