So can an AR lower striped receiver form an out of state FFL be transferred to a CA FFL and be put on his books as a Pistol? Or does the DROS of a pistol have to originate at the original FFL form the manufacturer as a pistol?

Ohh wait. Can a CA FFL even DROS a striped pistol lower do to the safety list?
I'm confused as to what point a striped lower becomes a pistol.

I'm asking because I see people out of state on ARF selling marked as "PISTOL" striped lowers, but does that mean that they are originally DROS'ed as pistols? Because form what I've been reading...a pistol marked lower can be DROS'ed as a rifle, and once it becomes a rifle, it has to always stay a rifle.

Needs to be DROS'd as a single-shot pistol.

Unless you have a FFL dealer that will let you make a stripped pistol reciever into a single-shot pistol prior to DROSing it, it will need to be a complete single-shot pistol for importation into CA.

I know about the search button and how to use it.
So far I'm on page 2 of "pistol" threads and I haven't seen this specific question yet.

I'm sure as many of you know how bad the search function in on this board.
It isn't like google where you can use switches to include or exclude key words. It's rather exhausting to read every thread with the work pistol in it.

Whether a lower is striped, solid colored or polkadot doesn't affect whether it can be reg'ed as a pistol or otherwise DROSed.
