View Full Version : a few ww2 bolt guns

it's raining and i'm un-employed today so had time to go look through the safes.
here are a few ww2 bolt rifles. the k98's are from left to right - '43, '44, '45 dated guns. production gets rougher as the war came to an end. the '45 dated gun is all phosphated and has no provisions for a bayonet; even the late sling is a no-frills piece.
the T99 is also late war with similar late rough features.
the 1903-A3 i know the least about but does appear to be in original, not re-arsenaled condition.

Nice. We want to see MOAR!

you may not have seen the last pic up there that i added later. it's a single SS rune on the bottom of the barrel on that bnz45 dated k98. i don't think anyone still alive knows how and why that is there. maybe a leftover part, but why a single rune on the barrel is a ?? anyone know?
here is one of some late k98's with my favorite type of metal finish and an off-topic picture that needs some scale.....it's a lot bigger than it may appear in the picture. :)

You could probably ask your 98k questions at this board and get an answer -

thanks, roger.
i'm a member there and i've discussed this with some of the well known collectors there as well and it's a mystery to them. not unique but also not known why.

My WWII bolt guns, an Arisaka, No.4 Mk2 SMLE, and the M91/30 I just picked up from Big 5

And a family picture, why not?
