Please post pics of your stock or tricked out 70 series colts! I just put mine in the 10 day jail and will bail her out on March 3rd!! I want to see pics of yours!! I am already compiling parts to do some light customization. I am going to keep her more traditional in the look but possibly a new barrel and bushing, checkering the front strap, a nice reblue, new springs and reowrk the action so she is crisp and clean at 3lbs. AAAHHHHH!!!

Can you buy a new 70 series in California?

First to the OP, congrats on the purchase.

Not to thread jack, but does anyone know why or what the criteria was for shipping 70's with the smooth/ silver medallion grips or the checkered/ gold medallion grips?

How about these for 1911 Brothers? Actually I have sold couple of them, but they are nice guns.

I worked in a gun store in the 70s - I recall we couldn't give away the Colt in 9mm. "Why the hell would I want to buy a 1911 in 9mm - if I want a 9 I'll buy a Browning". If we only knew.

Here's mine - although technically Commanders were not "70 Series" but rather "pre 80 Series."
