I just met and spoke to the Beretta people about their CX-4 rifle. I have discussed with them about California assault weapon laws and the bullet button requirement for OLLs. Actually I showed them the bullet button and gave them one for a sample. He said he will go to his engineers and design something for their CX-4s, so they can sell the rifle in California. I think it is a good idea. I guess I can appreciate for their effort.

When I test fired it, I liked it very much. If they sell it in CA, I will buy one. Anyone in Calguns interested in CX-4 rifles?

Go back and talk to them about importing the RX4 rifle. Now that would be a good idea!

Please keep us posted, this is very good news and I think quite a few folks will buy the gun. Seems like quite the accomplishment - how the heck did you go about getting them to listen and take an interest?

Always wanted a CX-4, but doesn't this have a no-no thumbhole stock?

Edit: Ooops, w/BB that doesn't matter correct?

Good job getting their attention.
I too will buy one if they come available.

This one wouldn't need modification:

I would love to have an RX4... IIRC there were problems with importing it.

I think they got stonewalled by the federal DOJ with importing the RX4 (don't remember the details). If they were to manufacture it in the US I don't see how it would be a problem, though. My feeling is that we may start seeing some movement on factory BB rifles once this alleged DA letter occurs. Maybe.

The CX4 is a funny looking rifle but she is lots of fun and a great shooter.

The Beretta the RX4 didn't meet the "sporting purpose" requirement for importation.

Since, the RX4 was designed for the North Amercian market, Beretta International decided, two years ago, to stop development/production of the RX4.

Sometimes, when you have a contact, things can work out for the better in life. The people I talked to are the people who have input on their products. I don't know if the Head Cheese, I mean THE management people at the Beretta will go ahead with the idea, but this is at least a starting point nevertheless. I had a pretty positive impression on the issue.

I mentioned the RX-4 to them. They told me that they have some issues with the ATF, the rifle being made overseas and some other fine lines. However, they told me that they may look into the option of bringing the dies to the United States and making it here. That will be a GOOD idea.

When I was at the Beretta USA in Maryland in December 2005, I had an opportunity to take a look at the only existing RX-4 in the US, a prototype one. It looked promising to me, but the plan to produce was put on hold. I will check with them in a few month to see where they are on the issue.

A bullet button does not automagically make everything good and legal. Remember, the gun also has to meet the 30" overall minimum length requirement.

I believe that if the Beretta decided to make and distribute the rifles, the overall length could be arranged.

I would be one happy camper if they would start making the RX-4 here. Please tell us your impressions of the rifle. I think they would sell like hotcakes and likely put a serious dent in the mini14 and SU16 markets.

I just met with the Beretta man again today. He said if the Beretta won't do it for CX4, he will contact a distributor in Florida and see if they can modify the gun to accept the bullet button. I am pretty sure then the distributor will sell them to a big market, California. I guess we are stepping toward the right direction.

Does LanWorld already do that? I know they sell the Hi-Point carbine with an ATI stock and bullet button. I don't see why they wouldn't for the CX4 (unless the CX4 BB would just be difficult to manufacture for some reason).

I would get one. I was in a gun store the other day asking about them and of course the owner said they would never be available in Kali. But here's to hoping.:o
