Gave this shotgun to my stepfather.......Thanks Calguns.

1st web sale so any + advice / direction is appreciated.

Up for sale is my Winchester Model 12-16 GA. Ė 2 ĺ Cham Full. The id/serial # is 1230XXX. Per Asphodel (Thank you BTW!), this gun was produced between 1950 to 51. Per Ade's and Fowler, this gun is in 80 to 85% condition and has been refinished (gun, stock & forend).
The shotgun has a 28" barrel and takes 2-3/4Ē shells with 4 + 1 in the chamber w/o plug which is currently installed. I havenít used this in awhile but Iíve put 100 +/- rounds through it but, I canít speak for the guns previous owner.

Located in Irvine Ė Orange County. Local PPT - FTF (preferably Adeís) only. If required???....buyer pays transfer cost / DROS at FFL.

Looking for $500 OBO in green backs or to trade for:
+A Kimber .45 handgun + cash from me

Hi, NO GO,

I had a look at the Winchester 'date of manufacture' references.

Model 12 serial number/date info is given as

S/N 1212919 at the end of 1950

S/N 1289315 at the end of 1951

This places your 12's date of production sometime in 1951, making it eligible for private party 'face to face' or 'cash and carry' transfer, if my understanding of the California regulations is correct (C&R status, long gun, over 50 years old)

Its a shame that I'm in the S. F. bay area, and you are in southern Cal.....I'd be interested in that one myself, actually, even tho that one appears to have an 'after-market' brazed-on rib.

As a bit of trivia, the 12 in 16ga is built on the same frame (receiver) size as the 20ga......they are a nice feeling/handling little gun.

cheers

Carla

Asphodel, thank for the info, I tried looking it up over the internet but with no success.

Can anyone state with certainty that a simple FTF with the exchange of cash / shotgun is 100% legal in CA?

I didn't catch the brazed rib comment. I think it's factory. I've added a couple pictures for additional inspection.
Thanks

All private sales of firearms(except antiques or curio/relic rifles and shotguns that are at least 50 years old) must be conducted througth a fully-licensed firearms dealer. Section 12070-12084 Penal Code(P.C.) Your model 12 would be considered (curio/relic) Face to Face would not be an issue if if chose to sell it that way. Thanks,Tim

Thank you Tim.

Ok since it is 100% legal, I'm not opposed to a FTF w/o a FFL. Nor do I mind doing an FTF/PPT at a FFL.
