I'm trying to figure out if this will be legal. It is actually the socom 2 though with the muzzle break. Pistol grip and removable mag. Thanks.

as pictured it is an AW. fix the mag and you can have the PG. Put the regular stock on it, or one without a PG, and you can have the detachable mags. That is assuming that it is a legal muzzle brake.

read the flowchart, http://www.calguns.net/caawid/flowchart.pdf

Centerfire rifle + pistol grip + detachable mag = assault weapon. Please consult the flowchart (http://www.calguns.net/caawid/flowchart.pdf).

If you can modify the mag release to make the magazine "fixed" (non-removable without a tool) it will be legal as configured.

If you understood CA AW law in even the most rudimentary fashion, you wouldn't need to ask the question you did.

Here is a link to the flow chart. It is as dumbed down as can be while still managing to be highly useful and reasonably comprehensive.

By the way, the gun is 100% legal (it is not banned by name) but as configured in the picture you linked to, is an assault weapon in CA.
