A friend of a friend has offer me a used Sig sauer p220 standard .45acp (plain jane/no rail) in great condition. Comes with 6 mags and 2 grip sets.
He's not the original owner and told me he shoots it alot...so lets just assume 2000+ round count:eek: but brags he never had a ftf or fte. I wanna buy this Sig but I was saving my cash for a Star PD .45
he'll only sell it to me or his friends in the event he want to buy it back in a few years, as he lost his job and needs cash.
Anyways $525 is the lowest I talked him down...lol I'm broke too.
Is this one of those no brainer deals? what do you think?

I got my West German 220 for $600. Original owner (from CG) whith about 1500 rounds. 2 mags and 1 set of grips. If his is in good condition, I say go for it man. I like mine. Feel free to pm more questions. Good luck and enjoy it!

Sounds like a great deal to me, just do an inspection and if its clean and the gun shoots well for you, fits your hand, and you like it, I say go for it. 2000 rounds isn't that much. Great price along with extra Sig mags that are on the more expensive side.

Thanks for the post shoupdawg, This helps! I just tought of it right now,if I where to buy those mags and grips seperatly...it'll cost around $275 if I bought'em new.
That leave the pistol cost for $250:D minus the ppt & dros.
Thanks man,I think I'm sold.:cheers2:

If he hasn't had a ftf or fte he really hasn't been shooting it that much. Even the best will malfunction from time to time.

I'd hit it. :D

Hmmm... a Star .45 or a Sig P220? I'd go with the Sig. It is a deal but if you don't want it then maybe you should save for what you really want.

with the extra 6 mags that comes with it,and specially if they're all factory mags, don't hesitate buying the gun.

You'll be very happy with the 220. Just make sure to check it out to make sure he kept care of it. You can also send it to Sig to get serviced however that's more $$.

I am with everyone else, I would jump on it, but
he'll only sell it to me or his friends in the event he want to buy it back in a few years, as he lost his job and needs cash
sounds a little sketchy, if the guy never wants it back or you want to sell it down the road then cool, but you don't want to buy it, the guy comes up on cash a couple months down the road and then starts bugging you to sell it back to him because "it was part of the deal"

A Sig with only 2000 rounds down the pipe? It's barely even broken in. BUY IT!!

Sounds like a great deal EXCEPT:

he'll only sell it to me or his friends in the event he want to buy it back in a few years, as he lost his job and needs cash.

Could cause issues between friends if he ever comes a callin'.

Can one PPT a pistol that has a 12 round mag?

A friend has a S&M that has 12 round mags.

You can PPT the pistol but not the magazines.

It's illegal to offer to sell/give/transfer and/or sell/give/transfer the magazines to a non-exempt person in CA.

However...
Your friend can dissassemble the magazines and give them to you are parts.
You can then either assemble the parts into permanent 10 round magazines or never assemble them in CA.

Just curious, is it an early W.German with the sharp spur hammer or the rounded hammer like in shoupdawg's? Heel mag release or regular?

Darn, I didn't catch the date, but heres some pictures of it. I met up with My friends buddy today who's selling it to me, and It was his CCW firearm, with around 2000-2500 rounds through it...I heard wrong, The seller was actualy the original owner. If it helps its a factory 7 rounder. Its a nice gun...even the staff was drulling over it at turners where we did the PPT.
I'm happy:cool:

P220 is one of my favorites.

2k-2.5k rounds isn't too much.

With the extra grips and number of mags it's comming with that seems like a good deal! (I'm assuming it's coming with those 6 extra magazines...)

$30 a magazine x 6 = $180 in magazines alone!

You just need to get yourself some K&N Nill Grips =)

Well, Sig's usually come with a case just like that =P

But you should google "Lunde" and sig p220 and you will see some awesome pics of a P220 with Nill Grips!

You'll want the P220 even more with how sexy you can dress it up.

Here is Lunde's P220:

Justin - Sweet looking piece man and helluva deal. Thanks for the pm reminding me to take a look. My W. German 220 runs drier than my other sigs so make sure you get grease and oil.

Enjoy!

If you like decockers and thumb safeties (I hate both), go for it.

I would spend that money on a Glock.

Star PD?????
never heard of it. I just googled it and its made in SPAIN?!?!
I think when it comes to European guns, the Krauts win hands down, with Italy in a DISTANT second (maybe). Even then, see that tower of theirs? I wouldnt buy an italian pistol (though they have been making shotguns for about as long as there has been an Italy). Sorry, off topic.
There are SOOOO many sig people out there, mags for the p220 are plenty (though expensive) but where are you gonna find mags for the star pd thingee?
Get the sig....that is a great deal.

QuarterBoreGunner

The Spanish make excellent pistols and the PD was one of the first compact, lightweight .45s on the market. Parts might be a little hard to find as it's been out of production for a looooong while, but mags can be found. Great little gun.
And james758, you win the troll of day award.
