I don't have any maps of BLM land and was interested in going to some BLM land to shoot some rounds off at targets. I was wondering if anyone could give me some directions of some remote BLM areas where its ok to shoot; and within a 3hr drive of L.A. area. Thanks!

I had a BLM access guide, I'll try looking for it.

I understand you were looking for specific directions, but I must have deleted the email I received from BLM in Palm Springs that listed that gave specific directions. Try emailing gaylen_marsh@ca.blm.gov to get directions.

After emailing them Nullzero, would you share?

Thanks,

I went north of barstow to shoot. Make sure u check out the BLM office to see if you can shoot rifles in certain areas because certain areas are designated. Just ask them because they have a map.

Check out the Copper City Road Limited Use Area... good for shooting, and exploring. I've found everything from old homestead cabins and mines, to practice bombs, M1 Garand clips, and plane wrecks out there.

Take the 10 freeway east all the way into the desert. When you pass Indio, you'll see an overpass for Dillon road. Take it, turn left.

Head down Dillon for maybe 5 miles. Turn right on Berdoo Canyon Road. Google it as the road itself is unmarked.

Head up the road for a mile or so until you crest a hill - you'll know you are there when you see tons of spent casings and shot hulls on the ground.

Place is called Berdoo Canyon.

Enjoy.

i shoot in jawbone canyon all the time and its also a good place to offroad. i have checked with the rangers and they laughed at me that i even asked to shoot there. all they care about is that you use a high back stop dont shoot across trails and clean up your trash. http://www.jawbone.org/foj/index.php

take a right, then go about a mile down and go left, that should get you far enough out.

At first read, I thought you were using mines to practice bombs! :D
