Hello again. I'm just looking for some clarification on if I can purchase a pre-ban upper set. My AR-15 will have a pistol grip and all those other evil features and of course a fixed magazine. As I understand it post-ban doesn't have any features such as a muzzle flash right?. Also, should I go chrome lined or not. Thanks

If you're building a fixed 10 round mag OLL, you can get a pre-ban (pre-1994) configured upper - flash suppressor, bayo lug, threaded barrel, collapsible buttstock, for example. I have chrome lined, but unless you plan on shooting corrosive, I don't think it matters.

If you go post-1994-ban - then you're getting yourself set up to run with a Monsterman grip and detachable magazines. You cannot use a flash suppressor, a threaded barrel, or a collapsible buttstock if you want to be able to legally detach your magazines without the use of a tool.

FUD. I don't remember a threaded barrel as being an evil feature on a rifle. I suggest you take a look at the flowchart.
