What is this?
I'm assuming it's a failed attempt to be 'clever', at least I hope it is.

Actually answering the question or walking away would likely be more helpful...

To the OP,
the Federal AW ban did expire but California's has not.
You can put a muzzle brake on your Mini but NOT a flash hider.
As for the mags, it is still illegal in California to buy or import new magazine with a capacity grater then ten rounds. If you owned the magazines prior to 2000 you can posses them without a problem.

In answer to your questions, Yes you can put the muzzle brake on, no you can not buy 20 or 30 round magazines in California.

Remember that the mini-14 comes with a weak 5 round mag. You can always buy a 20 round rebuild kit and build it into a 10 round kit. The problem is just finding factory rebuild kits right now. Also, they cost about $50 a piece (OUCH!). You can take a stab at other magazine offerings from different companies but it'll probably be a hit or miss from what I've read. I'm also looking for a Mini-14 now too.

It is compltely legal to put a muzzle brake on your mini but is not legal to import or manufacture any hi-cap mags for the avg joe in CA. As Kest and others said, the Fed AW ban expired but the CA one has not.

That's the problem... Ruger doesn't make them, PMI no longer makes them, and the rest of them "quality" and "10 rounders" aren't used in the same sentence :)

I have some ProMags and John Masen they feed fine, but 1 out of 3 times won't lock up after the last round. I have been told you can order the Ruger follower from Brownell's and that might improve that situation. I am reluctant to do so, because I believe with one of them either the promag or John Masen mags, changing the follower may turn one of them into a 11 round mag. Not worth a felony to gain one extra round.

Drop by perfectunion for more input on the 10 round mags.
