Does the CTR feel to light on a middy with a FF rail and give it an unbalanced feel? I've got the CTR, waiting on the middy.

Yup. A lot of times ARs feel front heavy...bugs me too. Switch it until you feel comfortable.

Yup.

I also put on a Vltor stock, and it felt the same.

I guess the only option is the UBR. God knows when those will be available again.

There are other options that are between the CTR and UBR in weight - Sopmod, VLTOR Emod, Magpul ACS to name a few.

I suggest an SOPMOD or Vltor with batteries in it

Yeah. I was thinking Vltor E-mod. It can be loaded up until it balances well.

Not sure what sort of balance problem you anticipate but I have a 14.5" + phantom midlength gas carbine with a Larue 9.0 and I haven't noticed it being especially front-heavy. But all I have on the rail is a flashlight. If I had it to do over again I'd skip the FF tube and mount the light to plastic handguards.

Love my EMOD. Got it from Rifle Gear at a decent price, thanks.

Looking to build something just like this, nice and simple

I'm just wondering if this would be better suited with a heavier stock like the LMT sopmod. The only thing I'd probably mount on the rail is a forward pistol grip, if that.

the CTR works just fine, try it with full 30 rounders (where its legal) before you spend cash on something else.

The CTRs are fine for that type of build.
