Here's my situation: My dad bought me a .22 pistol for my birthday a few years ago but did not officially transfer it to me. Right now I am 20 and want to transfer it legally as I will be storing it with me and using it often. I have the form, and it says I will be checked for eligibility. I do not have a handgun safety certificate that everyone has to get to buy a handgun, so does that make me ineligible? Can I even get one (if I need it) since I am not 21?

Yes, you need one. Yes, you can get one - limit is 18, though a few places seem not to know that.

AFAIK, there's no place on the form to list your HSC number, and I've never heard that anyone has been asked.

Get one anyway. Until we can extinguish it, It's the Right Thing To Do.

Thanks! I see my situation is #13 on the FAQ page. Fortunately there are a couple of gun shops here in San Luis Obispo. Dang, I'll be out $44 to be legal.
