$1100 may just get you the upper. Give Irvington Arms a call in Fremont.

Dang, you are kind of late in the game. You might need a few more pesos to get an AR nowadays. Hopefully a fellow Cal Gunner will have one that they can sell you for around that price, but good luck.

I've seen several rifle kits for around $700 and lowers can go as low as $199, how would I need more than $1100

Where are you seeing those prices. You will not find those in CA. Don't forget fees and taxes and ammo.

$1250 with no sights...not a great example of an $1100 rifle.

It can be done for 1100. I just recently built one for around 850.. unless the lowers went up in price again. I paid 260 for my Kaiser lower OTD, and I bought an upper on here for like 450.. You might not find any for that cheap, but I have seen some recently in the 5-600 range.. Then get the LPK and the buttstock and you should be good.

I just picked up a complete A2 upper for $550. Even with lowers going for $250, you should be able to put SOMETHING together......but that's only IF you can find the lower parts kit. Those are verrrry hard to find at this particular moment.

That $1100 upper better be a POF gas piston upper.
Sorry, Ima little outdated. Can't believe someone would buy an AR15s complete for over $1000.

Best online prices can be found at Colemantyler.com, that is if they get them back in stock. :(

If you look in the commercial deals portion AlohaRover has CMMG lowers in stock for 165 and Superior Arms in stock for 140. Go to his website and place an order then find an FFL who will accept it for you.

Here is his website:

http://www.evilblackrifleshop.com/store/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=1_5

While you are on his site order an Economy & Election Emergency kit (rifle kit) it includes all the parts you will need to complete your rifle. They range from 489 to 665.

http://www.evilblackrifleshop.com/store/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=65

Now all you have to do is wait for the uppers to come in stock, buy some mags and a bullet button and you are ready to go for under 1000.

AlohaRover is a good guy and will take care of you.

Buy a del-ton rifle kit to your liking, PPT a lower from a calguns member like one of the many up for sale, or go to snipers hide as they have a boat load of them around there that they're all trying to profit. Around 225 or so for your run of the mill lower. Wait 12-16 weeks and put it all together. Other than that you're screwed. Or do the backordered game like everyone else. Also watch your credit card if you are charged or not per a couple of other threads here.

You know... if you go to ranges (assuming you already have 1 gun...) and make friends with people, you find alot of people have alot of stuff and will most likely help you out if your cool. I got my AR built for under $800.

I met my buddy Rich at chabot and got talking, and he sold me his Spikes complete lower w/ buffer, tube, spring, MIAD and CTR stock for $250. Than he sold me his Oly Arms SS 16.5 1/9 upper with GG&G modular handguard for $400, the only thing I needed was a BCG which Shawnytee hooked me up with for $120. So my rifle was fireable for $770. And this was in December '08.

Of course I have added several things that would obviously run up the tally, my DMS-1, Ammo, cleaning supplies, etc. But for $770 I dont think this is a bad rifle...

I picked up my Rock River Arms upper for $650 shipped, brand new. I picked up a High Standard lower from San Jose Gun Exchange for $150. This was in 2006.

That said, I did just recently purchase a Bushmaster AR, complete rifle, for $1099 out the door, brand new. So I think your quest can be done.

Find a reasonable lower at or below $220, pick up an upper for $800 or less and slap a Bushmaster Lower Parts Kit in it. Done.

what type of AR are you looking for? I have a friend at work thats wants to sell a Colt hbar target. Because it is a registered "assault weapon" he can not sell the lower, but all of the other parts would be there, you would just need to buy a stripped lower and assemble it. Its a 20" heavy barrel target, all Colt, minus the lower receiver. He wants $1,000 for it, but I am pretty sure he would take $900, then if you get a lower for 200 you are at $1,100. Let me know,

The last AR I put together cost me less than $450.

I pais $225 for TWO built FAB10 lowers and $300 for a 16" upper. So, for less than $415, I mated the upper to a lower and had a complete rifle! That was about 18 months ago. Yea, it was a FAB10 build but, it's no different than a fixed (non-BB) build. I have other builds that cost a bit more but, with a little shopping you could probably have a complete rifle for under $900 today.

Here is a reasonable build

Reasonable lower $200
LPK $75
Basic M4 stock complete $75
Basic complete M4 style upper $650
Bullet button $25
10 rounder $25

total = $1050....under your $1100 budget...

Its not fancy or sexy, but it can be done still with these prices

use the carry handle sight and learn to shoot with iron until you save up for some optics and you'll be set !

Take the 1100 and put a deposit down on a Colt ;)

the way prices are right now, you will probably wind up with a no name parts gun for 1100 bucks if you buy right now...

Just focus on getting quality parts, thats the main thing...... the gun will come togeather eventually.

There are a few that they missed.... (Tread lightly if you're new to the whole OLL thing, you need to be very well versed in the law so you don't wind up getting hassled)

This one is due in any day now.

Colts tend to command a premium, if you can find a factory Stag Rifle (not a mixmatched parts gun) It will work almost as well and will be much less.

I built my AR last month for ~$900 and it was almost 30 days from build start to finish. I found my lower on here and pieced everyhting else together from different sites. Found a used CMMG 16" upper on AR15.com.

LMT 16'' upper w/ charging handle, handguards and standard BCG ... $675 (directly from LMT)
LCW15 stripped lower ... ~$150 (availability/pricing??)
lower parts kits ... $65 (bravocompanyusa.com)
BCM M4 stock kit ... $75 (bravocompanyusa.com)
bullet button ... ~$25 (riflegear.com)

+ Mags, rear sight of choice, shipping, fees, etc

Or you could get a full LMT rifle for $1235 from talon arms. Ask them if they'll throw a BB on for you..

I haven't really had to deal with CA-legal purchases yet (bought mine when I was a civie, living in WA), so there is probably something I am missing..

I've ordered from LMT and bravo company in the past, customer service was excellent for both.

Good luck.

surf the for sale threads here. Don't budget yourself too much, take your time and make sure your getting things that will last, while at the same time trying to be cost effective.

Here is where you will find the deals, and you don't have to wonder if its in stock or not.

Add a 6-8 month wait time on just about everything you quoted. They're shipping out to pre-ordered items at B.C. and LMT and others are so far backordered from trying to fill orders for vendors first and orders for private customers next that its going to be a while. I kinda understood the O.P. wanting this ASAP and that won't happen. If you want to drop money on a nice rifle and put a few more bucks into it, its a 12 week wait time for a JP-15 vtac rifle from them and have a REALLY nice rifle. ask them to throw a b.b. on for you and I'm sure they would oblige if you provided it for them. that would run 1800 for it but much much nicer than most of what has been offered before. If you're going econo route, as stated before, get the EEEK rifle from evilblackrifles.com and go with a CMMG for 650 and find a lower. CMMG stuff is really nice.

$1100? You can still do it for under $1k and have everything in a month or less. I just did.

Here is your upper for $475, they have them in stock, I got mine a week after I ordered. Shipping was less than $10.

You can get lowers from a number of places, I bought a CMMG at Gunrunners in Duarte for $230. They had a bunch in stock last time I was there.

Stocks, grips, etc, are available from various sources. Try www.cgwgun.com, they have a lot of different ones in stock and ship quickly. Their warehouse inventory is updated to their web site.

Lower parts kits are a bit hard to find, but you could also just piece together the parts from various vendors. Riflegear.com and MidwayUSA.com should have a complete parts kit between the two. You may need to spend a few dollars extra on chromed or other premium parts since they are out of some of the standard stuff.
Armalite.com also has a trigger/hammer/disconnect kit as part of their web specials, so you can get that with your upper.

Riflegear.com has 10-rd magazines and bullet buttons in stock.

Spend your leftovers on a rear sight and some ammo.

I just recently built 7 of them with quality parts and an Aimpoint M4 factored in, they were under $1450... So it can be done. :43:

Of course, it helps to have connections inside the industry and dealer direct pricing. Without those advantages, a quality rifle @ $1100 is possible but tough these days. Keep your eye out for deals and piece it together, it can be done.
