I ordered a Vortex Strikefire from http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/cb.aspx?a=451768 around 2 1/2 weeks ago and it arrived today! Any time I receive a new toy I am like a little kid and can't put it down. I was looking for a good but inexpensive red dot sight and after a little research this is the one I settled on.

My initial impression is that this is an awesome sight for the money! All the machining looks good and overall everything feels good. I can't wait to get it out to the range and see how well it performs. Now I know it's not an Aim Point but i'm not planning on running it over with my truck so I hope it works good and will prove dependable for it's intended use (I think it's going on my mini-14). I will post more after I get it to the range but i'm not sure how soon it will be. Oh the mount came with it and it looks exactly like a Burris Tactical ring and seems pretty durable. If anybody has any questions about it let me know and I will do my best to answer them!

Here are some pics

ETA: Sorry for the big pics! I should have resized them first!

It was hard to get a decent picture of the dot! I ran out of patience and just used the best pictures I could get. :(

nice, let us know with a range report on groups at 100 yards with m193. I'm interested in what it'll shoot with and without the doubler on @ 100 yards.

Is the tail/flaire/whatever that glowing comet-tail-like streak going down and to the left from the dot normal for you? Or is it just some odd effect from the camera? I love my strikefire. Looks quite nice on my Bulgy 74. Very nice for plinking

Yeah have the StrikeFire also. Its ok. I wouldn't trust my left with it though....
