I know the wait will be terrible but it looks like there is no other way around that unless I luck out and see one around...

so my question is... should i just order from LMT directly (the sales guy is Ryan I think) or should I place my order through a dealer (like from this site)?

Sucks because I bet that most of the guys that scooped them up are gougers looking to make a quick buck.

Try searching arfcom. I got lucky a month ago and found a 14.5 lmt upper. Uppers can be had if you look.

Order from LMT. You can get exactly the upper you want and maybe delivery of some parts won't take as long.

A friend of mine called LMT directly yesterday & ordered 2 complete uppers (in parts). He said they quoted him 18-24 MONTHS! I asked him if he misunderstood that for 18-24 weeks & he was sure they said months. DAMN!! Check gunbroker.com & gunsamerica.com. You'll probably find one there before they are available again otherwise.

Another friend spoke with someone he know @ DPMS recently & they told him they are 100k rifles behind right now & to expect a 1-2 year wait. It's good to be in the gun business right now!

I contacted LMT 3 weeks ago, and they quoted me 6 months for a piston upper. Three weeks later it's now a 2 year wait??

I'll try to call them tomorrow and ask again exactly how long they speculate the wait is...

oh and btw, does anyone know if the LMT 14.5 in with flash ends up being 16"? if so i think i might pick that one instead

you need a phantom or vortex permanently attached.
A2 FH won't cut it.

If you want to keep the original "m4" look, you can always perm install an extended a2 birdcage. I think sabre defense makes em.

I might just stick with the 16"
