Hello-

A friend is buying a handgun. He asked me (a dozen handgun owner) about the proof of residency. I told him that I use my auto registration as my POR. And then I started thinking that I tried to use it and it doesn't qualify.

How about it?

Current auto registration as proof?

Thank you.

Check out the Handgun Proof of Residency regulations, http://ag.ca.gov/firearms/regs/chapter4.pdf . Auto registration qualifies if it has your current address on it.

Your current registration is proof of residency I use it all the time. As long as matches you’re ID. You’re good to go.

and you should be prepared with that link and printed PDF to cram up the *** of any FFL counter-jockey that tries to tell you it isn't.

Yup-yup! Current CA Vehicle Registration; your name and your street address, good to go.

Will do sir.

I was 99% sure I'd used this. I just didn't want to send a noobie in with bad info.

if vehicle registration wasn't good enough what did they want? A stool sample that was filled with California corn?
