I just noticed that my kids must have got some juice on the wall in the picture....Lol.

Also....when I opened the Aimpoint box...the lenscovers were a little dusty or something....so it got on the optic in the picture...:o

Not a stupid question.

Holds a single AA battery.....the Optic can stay on for like 7-8 years without a battery change.

Thanks....thats kinda what I was looking to do. The only additional thing I could see to be usefull could be a magnifier....or....another build;)

Nice looking rifle.

Bad news on that Aimpoint though. Ones marked "Made in Sweden" are US government property and illegal for civilians to own according to the head of Aimpoint's customer service department (talked with him on the phone about this exact issue last year).

Wish I were. Had a great deal on one. Heard rumors of this and called Aimpoint myself. Can't remember the guy's name right now (and the Aimpoint site is down), but he's the one listed as head of customer relations.

Also have seen some threads on ar15.com stating representatives from the Dept. of Defense have shown up on people's doorstep asking for their property back.

That last part could be true, could be :TFH::TFH::TFH:. But the "Made in Sweden" = US Gov't Property is 100% true.

Could you possibly post a link to verify the claims that Aimpoint's with the "Made in Sweden" marking are illegal....or government owned? Show me a little bit of proof please....thanks.

Ok, found my notes.

Contact him yourself: Tom Sziede (pronounced ZeeDee), 1-877-aimpoint or info@aimpoint.com

I had better luck calling and talking to him in person (though it took a couple tries).

Check your info.

The CompM4 isn't a CompM2.

You're right uclaplinker. In his thread in the optics forum about this, I admitted I later realized he had the Comp M4 and the info I had was about the Comp M2.

He was going to call Aimpoint himself. Would love to hear the results about the M4.

The upper was like $500-$550....pretty sure. The lower was complete and I got it for $270 + DROS and tax. So...about 850 or 900.

From there....I changed out the handguards for the free float rails $160....changed the grip MIAD $40....changed the buttstock for CTR $90...swapped out the flash hider $25.... ARMS 40 BUIS $120.....added the Comp M4 $700.00.....

So....about $2000.00 total I guess....+ or - a little.

NOTE: I didnt get all the accessories after the initial lower and upper purchases for exactly the prices shown......the prices shown on the accessories are to reflect what one would probably have to pay.

The CompM4 will supposedly last 8 years between batteries, the M3 was 50,000 hours. Not sure which model he has, I'm not familiar enough with Aimpoint to differentiate the two. In any case, who cares? Change the battery yearly if you're paranoid and you're still out what, 50 cents a year? That's slightly more than the cost of a single bulk round of .223, at current prices.

Very nice build! Mine will look very similar. If all goes well, I'll be shooting this coming Sunday. :D:D:D
