I was hoping for you guys to inform me on the laws in regards to transporting firearms, Shooting in National forests....

I Was taugh that as long as you keep the firearms in the trunk and ammo in the car that was all you needed? does the firearm need to be in a locked case? is there a diffence with trucks and SUVs?

What are the laws in regards to shooting in The national forest? where do you have to be is there places you are not alloud to shoot?

You guys are the experts.... thanks

That's pretty close.

Long guns must be unloaded; in the trunk is fine, case not needed by law, but it's convenient. Ammunition can also be in the trunk.

Long guns can actually be anywhere, but need to be locked somehow when going by schools- trunk or gun rack or case.

Hand guns, if you choose to carry them concealed, must be in a locked case, and again unloaded. Trunk works, but again it's convenient to have a case. Ammunition can be in the same case. Case can be anywhere in car/truck.

It's possible to transport handguns UNconcealed. Lots of info here about that; be sure you know the details.

It's a sad thing that we all must be experts. :(

Don't shoot in National Forests, myself - someone else will have info.
