I have a Kel Tec (keep your comments to yourself please) and I enjoy shooting it but I don't like the sights on it. I put a scope on it and it just wasn't the same. Are there replacement sights that I can install on it?

LOL, I have one, too, and I have to admit, it's about the crappiest gun I've seen at Angeles.

However, it's good to know of cheap ways to increase the accuracy of it.

Thanks for the question and answer, guys.

That sight from midway is the only one that I have seen that would probably work.
I know it's a scope but I just put a pentax 1.75x5x20 scope on my kel-tec and I like it. You can crank it down on the power to where there is hardly any magnification if you want. You can also strip the rifle down for cleaning without removing the scope which is a plus. If you happen to be interested cameraland in N.Y. has never been mounted demos for $85 plus shipping. Here's the scope:

I just sold mine but, it's a good gun for what it is. Too many people compare it to an AR because they don't realize that it was designed to be something completely different than an AR. It's the only thing in it's catagory so, it is great for what it is. Anyway, if you decide to mount optics or even irons on the rails, there was an article in Blue Press, back when the SU-16 first came out, that explained some problems people were having and how to resolve their issues. To simplify it, after mounting optics to the rail, fire a few shots, retighten the rings to the rail, repeat this a few times and then zero the optics/sights for one final time. This should allow the optics/sights to maintain zero for a long time.

I've had good luck with an Eotech on mine. It's fast, light, and reasonably accurate, and everyone enjoys shooting it like this.

An Aimpoint T1/H1 (or a look-alike if it's just for range shooting) would be pretty awesome on one too.

Yeah, the SU sights pretty much blow for anything past 150-200 yards. I've been thinking about upgrading the sights as well.

For the cost you have to spend on getting a decent rear aperture sight on the rifle, if it were me, I'd probably spend the $ putting a red dot of some sort on it or a 1 to something magnification scope on it so that you could still use the SU in close and further away.

The only issue with a scope, is you have to be careful how long it is, as you won't be able to pull the bolt assembly out for cleaning as a long scope will block it.

(I suppose you could get quick detach mounts too, though).

That's what I have mounted on my -16CA. It still holds zero after detaching and attaching.

I have a aimpoint knock off red dot on mine. I keep it folded up in a wally-world paintball gun case with 4 loaded mags and 200 rounds in the front pocket. It is a very nasty toy.

Thanks everyone for the responses. I wish I could spend $500 - $600 on a scope for this rifle but I just can't. The peep sight looks like a good option. I took it to the range and shot it at 100 yards once and this rifle is not meant for that. It is much more fun just shooting things off hand, not from a bench.

Are there any optics available for $100 ish that are decent?

I put my tijicon RX09 sight on mine and I really like it. Not too big on a small rifle and I think the chevron sight is fast on target but precise enough for the guns capabilities.

Throw a Bushnell Trophy 1x32 on it - great little red dot that looks like an ACOG and functions quite well.

I had a no-name red dot on mine and the recoil would make the on-off knob move to the off position. Red dot was great for the SU16, and it would likely be much better with the quality (for the price at least) glass and rugged construction.

Marsh1 over at the arfcom EE has been importing inexpensive look-alikes and lasers that are getting good reviews, and he's got a good reputation for standing behind his gear.

Given the tight cash flow these days, I've been considering ordering one of these for some traditional rifles. You'd have to put it on a riser for use on an AR, as the mount is part of the sight, but it would be perfect for plinking on an SU16, Mini 14, or a variety of other gear.

This T1 style is $89 shipped:

Does it stay zero when you put it back after cleaning the rifle?

+1 for the bushnell trophy mp red dot. I have one on my alpha.

Its a great inexpensive scope for a great inexpensive rifle. mine was $154 shipped from nightgalaxy.com. the way it mounts allows for BUIS and you dont need to remove it to break down the gun.
