AIMSurplus is really good. I've gotten great service from them. Which calibers did you have in mind?

I don't believe there any restrictions in Monterey so shop away at any online vendors - As of late most are low or out of stock - Ammoman.com is another -

I used to phone in orders to J & G Sales in Arizona back in the day before I had a 'puter. Used to get a lot of their surplus 8mm, 7.62X54, and 30-06 ( I miss the prices on that! ). Not a lot of milsurp available now, though. :(

223 or 5.56

can someone elaborate on this.
This has always confused me because most ammo is listed as 223 / 5.56

I have a 5.56 upper, will it shoo the 223?

i would recommend people to stay away from aimsurplus for a good long while.

i ordered items from them in November and i'm still waiting for them to be shipped.

Might want to give them a call if it was instock, per their website

"*01/28/2009 Important Shipping Delay Notice
Due to high order/back order volume we are currently experiencing a delay in shipping. Please allow for up to 2 weeks for us to process and ship your order. We are currently shipping orders placed on the 16th of January*. *Please note that this is for in stock items. If your order was for back/pre-ordered items, we will ship as soon as we receive them from our supplier(s). We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause."

Shouldn't be a problem unless your city name is actually Los Angeles.

I go with ammunitiontogo.com

or with www.outdoormarksman.com/index.php?cDept=65

but outdoormarksman are almost always out.

Most others require paperwork such as sending a fax or scanned copy of your ID.

Finally, most importantly, make sure you are not in a city or county that prohibits ammo by mail order.

Ammoman just raises their prices and says free shipping thats all.

You can buy from store A for 200$ plus 20$ shipping or you can buy from ammoman for 220$ with free shipping.

sometimes ammoman prices are a bit higher though

You should call and check in with them because maybe your order got cancelled? I ordered 500 round of .223/5.56 from them Jan 5th and just got it delivered this past Monday. The website says they are sending out orders placed on Jan 16th.

To the OP: I buy all of my ammo online and bulk.

As for Ammoman.com they are good but the free shipping really isn't free, the cost is baked into the price. So basically when I do research between places the cost is always right around if not a tad bit lower than Ammoman.com, but they do have great service and a very good selection most of the time. I have placed orders from them a couple times.
