I picked up an AK in a trade recently and got to take it out this weekend. It's a brand new Century build. I was having a lot of feeding issues with it though. Sometimes it will work for 3 or 4 shots and other times it'll jam every time.

The bolt comes back and picks up a round, but it gets stuck against the bottom lip of the barrel. I tried 2 different magazines and had the same results.

I'm using Wolf JHP ammo which I know is garbage, but I'm not sure if that's the issue. My old AK ate up this stuff. Do I just need to break this in with less ****ty ammo?

I highly doubt its the ammo. That AK should be able to reliably shoot whatever you feed it. Is it a WASR? My guess would be that it is your mags. What type of magazines are you using? I know that AK's are very touchy if your magazine hangs just slightly. The mag needs to be firm in place with no hang.

My first homebuilt Romy G had that same issue.

It's not a WASR. I've used these mags before on my Yugo and they worked pretty well, so I don't get why they would be so awful in this one.

Low-feeding is usually a mag issue, some gunsmithes also recommend a slight chamfer at the bottom of the throat (not always necessary)
Just my two pennies;)

Hit it with a rock and throw some dirt in it. AKs like to treated rough. :D

Try it with FMJ. Some AK's just don't like HP. It's hit or miss.

+1 Whats the hang like on the mag? Your yugo had a different receiver than this AK.

I chamfered the throat a bit and it seems to be good to go now. Thanks guys.
