I've never done it but, I've got .45 Colt dies and BP if you want to come up and load a few yourself, your welcome to use my equipment. Just remember, BP is corrosive so, you'll have to clean your entire gun very well, as soon as you can.

BP is dirty, smokey, and messy... I have a BP Ruger, Old Army. I love it because of the big smoke and the smell of the BP. I got it for free, in poor condition, from a friend. And it took me almost two weeks to get it into really shootable condition. I leaned early the real secret of BP is to clean it ASAP. The best way to do this is to use water soluble cleaners and lubricants - no modern petroleum based products whatsoever. After shooting, run it under fairly hot tap water, which gets about 95% of the sooty fouling out and dissolves the salts that cause pitting. I use a nylon brush, a few patches on a jag, and some dry heat and then it's good to go again.
BTW - The bullets going down barrel need to be lubed - water soluble stuff works the best.
You may already know all this...
I learned a solution of Murphy's Oil Soap, 70% iso-alcohol, and hydrogen peroxide - all in equal parts (maybe with a little acetone - but not much) is a great multipurpose cleaner and lube for BP guns, it works as good as anything you can buy - at a fraction of the cost. I don't rinse it off; most people use it like Hoppes #9, leave it on after the gun is fully cleaned. It's the "Ed's Red" of BP guns.
