A friend asked me about this today and I couldn't seem to find a specific answer. I know there is an AW correlation with threaded pistol barrels, but bolt action rifles being single shot tend to be devoid of AW classification. Even the DOJ website didn't seem all that helpful, only applying them to AW classification.
So I now wonder, are threaded barrels permitted on bolt action rifles?

No problem at all!
The "threaded barrel" thing is ONLY for pistols.

That's what I suspected, but wanted to know for sure - thanks!

Threaded barrels are fine on ANY long gun of ANY type of action.
They are ONLY a no-go on handguns. Period.

To be more precise, they're only a no-go on semiautomatic handguns that have the capacity to accept a detachable magazine.

Threaded bbls are legal on revolvers - just not semiauto pistols.
And of course, Imbert & Smithers thinks threaded bbls turn a bolt-action rifle into an AW.
