View Full Version : FN Tactical Police shotgun

I would like to hear from owners of the FN Tactical Police shotgun. How's the recoil on it? How does it shoot? Is the finish durable? Does the c more make a difference on it?

It cost as much as autos. Where can I get it for a decent price?

Here's the specs and a pic of it:

I don't know much about it, but it it a dressed up Winchester 1300. I have a 1300 & like it a lot.

how much they want for that? If I were you I'd get a 870P or a 590 w/bayolug. You can buy the stock and all that other stuff that looks cool on the FN.

The lowest I found the FN Tactical Police shotgun for is $570. For that price you can buy an auto shotgun. How much do the fully equipped SST 870 go for?

Has anyone shot the FN SLP? Or seen one in shops? It's supposed to be built around a Winchester SX2. Seems like a nice alternative to the mega-pricy M4 Super 90.

I read on another forum the FN Tactical shot rather hard, and the poster took special care in saying he wasnt unusually recoil sensative. Perhaps just get a 590 or 870 and put on the SpecOps stock from Knoxx, which will reduce recoil by up to 90%. You're still about $150 below the lowest quoted price for the FN Tactical, and you'll have a better stock. Knoxx has just been appointed the new OEM supplier of AR-style stocks to Remington with their SpecOps.

I got my 870 police magnum with factory mag extension for around that price 500ish. slaped on a sure fire light forend $200, factory top folding stock another 200 dollars. so I spent a bit under a thousand. no rail on top on top, no optic. but still looks really cool. I want to get another 870P with wood stock parkarized heat shield, and side saddle.:)

I don't own (or have ever held) one but from the following thread, it may kick a little much.

10-23-2005, 11:23 PM
For anyone here who owns one.. Does the buttpad available for the collapsable stocks (like the ones available form Bushmaster) fit the buttstock on the FN? At least on the AR it made a noticeable difference, figured it could help with the shotgun.

I really like the build quality of the ACE ARFX stocks with the rubber ends. Would the recoil be sharp or subdued with the ACE ARFX stocks?

CDNN has the FN Police for $270 and few sweet HK/Fabarm ones for around $400 (pages 20 and 21 of their current catalog - volume 4). And I think CDNN will ship shotguns to Cali.

10-29-2005, 3:19 AM
CDNN wants $600 for a FN Tactical Police shotgun. I think $600 is steep for a pump.

Can someone report on the recoil of this shotgun? Does added a rubber cover over the stock help?

11-02-2005, 7:09 PM
Any FN Tactical Police shotgun owners out there?

11-07-2005, 8:43 PM
Just got off the phone with my dealer. Getting one for 105%($Dealer) + DROS.. not bad, but steep for a shotgun.

I'll report back on the recoil once everything is finished, should be within the next couple weeks.

leelaw, what's the dealer price on the FN TSP?

leelaw, what's the dealer price on the FN TSP?

I'm quoted at 696.00 out the door.... still expensive..

ETA: I think these numbers might be wrong.. I think I was quoted list rice, then figured the tax/markup.. I'll update when I get the real quote.

leelaw, what's the dealer price on the FN TSP?

According to FNH Commercial DEALER price book (I got one at the past ShowShow) they pay $646.58, for the one with the removable choke / non backbored barrel (Model 17677). And 679.88 for the one with fixed choke / back bored barrel.

Ok, I used to have the FN Police Tactical Shotgun. (sold it to a gun buddy before I left for active duty)

You can change out the buttstock with any available AR type stock.
I would suggest adding the rubber buttpad on the stock as it does help to cushion the recoil. But the recoil is not bad at all considering it has a vented barrel already.

I am a really short guy and I can pump out all 8 shots consecutively without much trouble.

I went to a shotgun class and was hitting my targets with slugs at I think 25 and 50 yards away.

The top rail works great with optics too.

Looking at the CDNN catalog right now and the FN Police 8-Shot Tactical (page 20) is $269.99. Bad news is CDNN will NOT ship tactical shotguns to CA. My boyfriend already asked. Not about this model in particular but in general. Sorry...

11-29-2005, 12:17 AM
They have a semi-auto H&K for $500! Too bad they won't ship to us.

leelaw, what's the dealer price on the FN TSP?

Alright, I've got a real quote now. $575 plus tax and DROS. :D

It finally arrived, so I go to fondle other guns and begin the paperwork for it on Friday... I wonder if I should get a Sig while I'm at it...

leelaw, where are you buying it from?

Getting it from my dealer (friend) in Fairfield. He has two or three on stock right now, but I don't know if the $575 is a special "friends only" price or standard. Want me to find out? Email/IM me.

The FN Tactical Police is now on Gunbroker.com regularly for $550 which includes a $240 C-More sight.

12-20-2005, 1:22 AM
budsgunshop.com has it for $570.39:

Yes, the gunbroker.com prices are slightly lower. Does the buyer have to pay any auction fees?

Most Remingtons, Mossbergs, and Benelli Nova pumps can be purchased for under $400. Do you guys agree that the FN TPS is overpriced since it is really a dressed up Winchester?

12-20-2005, 4:03 PM
If you look at the FN Tactical Police on Gunbroker, there are a couple sellers including the C-More sight with the shotgun. These cost $220 by themselves (http://www.arizonagunrunners.com/cgi-bin/cart.pl?db%7Cfndb.dat%7CFN%20C-More%20Sights). So if you subtract that from the $550, you're paying $330 for the gun (if you were planning on getting a red dot sight for it). Then figure $70 or so for the AR collapsable stock plus the backbored, ported barrell, the price on Gunbroker seems like a great deal. The seller pays all Gunbroker fees. Buyer just pays shippin'. Below are some pics I found on the web:

Thank you for the nice pictures.

The FN Automatic Slp Self Loading Police Shotgun can be purchased for $679.00 at:

The FN auto shotgun ($679) is only $129 more than the FN TPS pump shotgun ($550) but FN auto shotgun is one of the fastest auto shotguns available. FN auto shotgun has the rail on top also.

Does the C-More sight make a difference?

12-23-2005, 12:22 AM
Yeah, I bought one of each. Haven't received them yet, though.

12-23-2005, 7:22 AM
That's a smoking price on the SLP. Wholesale price is around $800, I believe.

12-23-2005, 11:37 PM
I have a Remington 870P in the 4449 configuration and like it a lot. For a semi I am about to purchase a FN SLP. Range report in a few weeks. :)

Here's a regular FN Police with a custom OD finish:

Here's a customized FN TPS:

Replaced factory 4-position stock with the Magpul 93B 7-position telescoping stock.
Replaced the trigger guard with the Magpul Enhanced Trigger Guard
Replaced the hard plastic grip with a Hogue Grip.

i just found a SLP on gunbroker for 650- needless to say i did not have to think about it...

clickity click,... should be on the way soon....

everything i have read on this is awesome- (suits me just fine as an alternative to the harder kicking m1s90 and much lighter than the 1187)

I bought one from that seller, too. Mine didn't come with an owners booklet so I emailed him about it and it arrived today.

There was a scratch on the magazine tube and a ding on the picatinny rail but I can live with it.

I took it to Spenceville last week to shoot it but didn't bring any 00 and it wouldn't cycle with the 7 1/2 or 8 shot I bought at Wal-Mart.

jesse- do you think these are blemished or seconds? problem units? also, didnt your slp come with two gas pistons (one for heavy loads and one for light loads)...

01-31-2006, 12:17 PM
Ironballs, I don't think they're seconds. He has *alot* of FN stuff; just probably got a deal somewhere. You can't beat $650. I actually bought it when he was asking $679, but by the time he got them in, about a month later (he was preselling when I did the buy it now) he had them at $650. He said the $679 ones were with ghost ring night sights, and the $650 ones aren't illuminated. The one I received wasn't illuminated, so he gave me the $29 back. I actually just threw in another $3 and got 4 oem HK 10 rounders from him. He's got OEM HK mags for $8 each! I also bought the FN TPS from him, too.
