I have been looking for a kit to build one and found a web site that has them(1022fungun.com) but when i tried to order it the page could not be displayed. I have read that someone here is also working on a kit but i haven't found any information on it other than it might be finished in 12/08. Normally i would like to build this myself but i just bought a house and am going to remodel the whole thing. I know i could wait to build it but i am very impatient sometimes and i already have a ton of other projects on hold right now. If anyone has some info that would help me i would really appreciate it thanks.

I had the opportunity to see one in person and I let me tell you, this thing is going to kick off in high gear once the word gets out on them. They look freaking sharp and the furniture is made of high quality wood.

I messed up and FAILED to take pics of one assembled already, but here is what part of the kit looks like in the box, Jacques was already transforming his Ruger 10/22 into a Tommy gun when I took the picture of this box. You can't really tell what it looks like because it is still in the wrapped up.

Well, worth every single penny.

Looks sweet, but why is there the gap between the fore grip and the barrel? It seems like that would be a stress point where the grip attaches. Any reason why a piece of wood couldn't be put in there to bridge the gap?

He is waiting for the final touches on the website from Geovario. I also bought one Friday at the BBQ. These are top notch. Walnut stocks and grips with really nice grain to them. When assembled they look, just, bad to the bone.

Because that is how a real Tommy Gun is built.

Real One:

http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj263/jacques102/tommygun_63.jpg

The kit has a extremely sturdy metal bracket that holds that in place. So don't worry about the stress point.

You, know, I a good friend of mine has one and I honestly did not like it. I shot it and it felt bad.

I was thinking the same thing when I saw the 10/22 Thompson, but after I held it and shot it, I was freaking impressed with it. There was a lot of detail and work placed on the wood furniture and the rest of the parts, it feels freaking great, looks amazing and it is fun to shoot. While we were at Angeles Shooting Range, a lot of people were stopping by to look at the Thompson 10/22.

However, there are several varieties of the stainless guns...some polished barrels, some painted, receiver colors vary slightly. It will be very difficult to make a kit that color matches correctly.

Yup. If you remember we put it together in the morning then hurried off to the range, forgetting to take photos. Then we forgot to take photos when we got back. Then we forgot to take photos after eating. Then we forgot to take photos before Steve left for home. So Steve stopped by here again a couple days ago, but we only had a couple minutes for photos before he had to leave. At least we didnt forget to take photos, it was the whole purpose of the visit.
It is what it is.
The road of life is always crooked and bumpy. (And forgetfull).

How about a group buy for kits. I for one would be interested if the price was right.

I have a 10/22 blued target with bull barrel. I wonder how it would look? Maybe I could buy a standard barrel and sell the bull.

On the drum mags. Are they dated? Were they produced before the ban?

Working on the website now. Making good progress, I hope to have it up this evening.

The Military Kit front horizontal grips did not arrive yesterday as promised.

It is a newer (painted) stainless color one any way. I called Uncle Pauls and he has a "blued" one that I am going to pick up and DROS with another item I am getting, but is not here yet. It may be a couple weeks.

Website was working early last night, I monitored test orders and then real orders as they came in.
But now it does not work.
Aaaaargh!
The Host and Shopping Cart service providers were working on a UPS interface problem last night.
I'm guessing they turned off a data link in error or turned off the site from their end for some unknown reason.
No orders were billed in error, no multiple billings were processed for those of you who tried more than once to place an order, so all is OK on this.

RE: sig line: Will do!

Military front grips will take about 3 weeks, hopefully less.
All other components are here.
The Mil front grips should have been here last week but sometimes things don't go as planned. (One of the supplier's CNC Production Engineers retired two weeks ago, leaving them a little short handed).
The supplier is preparing for the SHOT Show now, so they are preoccupied with this. Shot Show is Jan 15-18.
They have assured me they will run a batch of these for me first thing as soon as they return from the show.
I will keep the site updated and post here as soon as they come in.

There were the airsoft ones that some had a link to earlier. They look like they could be made into something.

There is also the possibility of mag repair kits to replace your old worn out 10/22 mags, or to convert to a 10/50 mag.

I believe Chiz has made one but does not have access to his camera. Maybe we'll get an update soon.

my kids lost my camera but it was easy to make. i went to tap plastic and had them cut me two circles and four rings of black abs plastic. then i glued them together ,sanded it and epoxied a regular 10/22 mag to it. it cost me about ten dollars to make.

This thing ROCKS. I gotta get a pro photo shoot. And regular 10-22 barrel means STINGERS!

ironically, when my buddies and I drove to Pennsylvania for our first "shooting road trip" to my friend Andy's family's house -- we brought TWO RIFLES -- my 10-22 Sporter and my buddy Ray's semi Auto Ordinance Thompson. We set targets up in a forest (with the pocono mountains as a backstop) and ran the different shooters through the woods -- they'd have to see teh target on the tree (the old cartoon looking "bad guy") and put two shots in him.

Running the course with the Thompson was fun. but usually hit one round per target. 10-22 headshots all around.

The BBT dropped off my Chicago kit today - this kit is unbelievable! The wood on the stock is some of the nicest, most figured wood I've seen in a long time and wouldn't look out of place on a fancy custom sporting rifle! I'm going to try some modding with an airsoft stick mag...

As soon as I get my extra set of small 10 rounder Ruger magazines (the ones that come with the rifle) and a set of those magazine holders that allow a user to "clip on" an extra mag to the bottom- I'd like to mate this airsoft stick mag to the clip somehow...I'm thinking that the curved end of the stick mag could be bent a bit more to fit into the clip or even epoxied/screwed into it, making a solid base for the ruger magazine and another grip for leverage...Meh, *shrug* we'll see though...

You should take advantage of the especial price now before the prices go up.:) Besides, once the word gets out to the rest of the Nation on these bad boys, it might take a little longer to get the kits. Act now, don't wait until you have the rifle if you know that you are getting the rifle for it.

Not to sound like an "alarmist," but I can see that happening. Once the rest of the "free world" hears of this, they're going to be all over it.

heyas, guess what the UPS guy brought me the other day...

Luckily in my searches for a 1928a1 thompson to use as a "model" for my Ruger Tommy gun conversion I stumbled onto the last remaining stock of a Green Mountain Military finned barrel 16".

From the other hits I made in Google, it looks like this was an item introduced in the 2005 Shot Show...they don't appear to be in stock on the Green Mountain homepage, but if you can get one, here's what they look like - the "cutts compensator" piece on the barrel looks to actually be forge on the barrel, I don't see any markings which would make me believe it was removable - the front sight blade has two hex screws that hold it in place. I wonder if GM still has the capability to produce a batch of these still if there was a decent amount of people asking for them, I think they'd be really nice for the conversion!

Howdy everybody!
I'm back from the SHOT Show.
Things were crazy there on the manufacturing side. I checked with every barrel maker I could find regarding finned barrels and a front sight set-up. All the barrel makers are buried in orders for AR15 barrels as the demand nation wide has not been filled.
I visited with Tactical Innovations regarding their barrels and making a front sight. TI claims that their threaded rifle barrels are not legal in CA and he refuses to ship any product here. I did what I could to educate them but TI is also buried in AR15 barrel production and is just not interested in any CA business. I told them they are mising a great opportunity but they said they have enough business already.
Green Mountain Barrels was not at the show, so I will contact them next to see if I can get them to make more of the finned barrel that is currently discontinued. Since they already have the tooling and patterns, hopefully this will be easy to get them to start this up again. I will keep everybody posted as to progress in this area. Hopefully they are not buried in AR barrel production as well.
Pro-Mag is making a new, revised drum with stainless steel feed lips and a revised feeding angle that is 100% reliable. We discussed making 10 round drums and special 10 round stick mags for CA and other limited cap states, they were very interested. I will be in touch with Pro-Mag Sales and Product Development staff later this week and we will see what we can do. These mags will be a few months away at least, but things sound very promising, the owner of Pro-Mag has given his approval to pursue these.
I'll post more on the SHOT Show in a separate thread when I get caught up. Yes, there will be pics!
