A customer of mine has a gun at his fathers house in AZ and wanted to know if its ok to bring into CA with a monster man grip on it. It is a Poly Technologies AK-47S. I checked the listed guns and this one does not appear to be listed. The list specifies that the Poly Technologies AK-47 and AKS are banned but says nothing about the AK-47S. Am I correct in believing that the AK-47S is an off-list gun for CA?
Thanks!

That's very close. I'm more concerned that it has AK-47 on it.

Do NOT bring any rifle marked with "AK47", "AK-47", etc. Even "AK47S" is too close.

If it's marked "AK47" it does not matter which make it is.

No features changes will render this gun CA legal.

I asked the same question about a Valmet and got the same answer, matter of fact it had to do with an unlisted -S model as well.

I'm aware it's illeagal to alter serial #s, Is it also against the law to add or remove/alter the model name on a weapon??

How about trading it off in AZ for one that isn't on the list?

Even if it were legal to change those markings, it prob wouldn't be relevant to what the gun is (i.e, still listed).

Only if you're the CA DOJ BoF and Evan's Gunsmithing do you get away with this.

seams funny to me a Fresno gun store is selling an open bolt M11 & its OK because it has SA after the M11. Seams like an easy way to make a grand or two per weapon. Just stamp SA & your good to go??

As long as an 07 followed federal rules he or she could alter the make/model/serial number of a firearm - especially if excise tax was paid for rebuilding.
