I just got this off the RTKABA web site. The Cook County, IL Comissioners are proposing gun control legislation that if passed will close down all gun shops plus ban and confiscate most guns owned by citizens of that county. They have set up a telephone poll to guage voter support for the legislation, but voting is not restricted to county residents. You can call 1-312-603-6400 and press 1 at the prompt, then 1 at the next prompt and 2 to vote against the legislation. I know politics is a crooked as a snakes back in Illinois, but let's try to help our fellow gun owners if we can. Most cell phones have free long distance and it just takes seconds to vote. We can take the old Chicago line to "Vote early and vote often" and maybe shove it in the appropriate orifice in Cook County, IL.

Hard to believe that they would actually do that in light of Heller and forth-coming incorporation legal cases. Could it be that they're feeling their oats because Obama is about to become President?

I voted. I guess you don't need to be from there to do this over the phone.

I guess they have plenty of money to burn in court.

A link to the legislation would be helpful.

I did my part. I can't believe they allow calls from out of the area...

That was a pain to find. William Beavers introduced the Safe Streets/Weapons Registration Ordinance (http://www.isra.org/cook_county/12042007-beavers-registration-290841.html) in December, 2007.

I already have this number in my electronic address book, which means I already called it. How old is this poll? I might have already voted unless there was another poll at that number.

It's a little old. I already voted against it. When this posted on another forum a while ago.
