Anyone know, for sure, if short barreled rifles (SBR's) are allowed in CA with the proper ATF paperwork??? A buddy at work wanted to know if he could put a 14.5" length M-4 barrel on his CA registered pre-ban Colt AR here in CA if he did the ATF paperwork and paid the tax.

not in CA without virtually impossible to get CADOJ permission. He could do a C&R SBR, but the AW regs would still apply.

Ya know, in 3 years some very early AR-15's will start being eligible for C&R status (started production 1961 IIRC). At that point, a small selection of folks would be able to have SBR AR-15's in CA. And if the gun happened to have been reg'ed as an AW, that'd create some interesting pants-browning action from DOJ... :)
