What do you do with your ammo, especially if its factory ammo?

depends on how long I plan on keeping it before I shoot it.

Depends on what style box its in
if its in the bulky styrofoam blocks I'd repack it
otherwise leave it alone

leave it on the factory box but as i accumulate more ammo, planning on getting more ammo cans.

I guess rimfire ammo could/should be placed loose in Ammo cans since the are loose in the factory boxes anyway.

I have 40+ year old ammo that's in the factory cardboard box. It shoots just fine.

I don't think it matters where you keep it, to be honest. Just keep it dry if you can, if not, dry it before you shoot it.

I got some 40 year old .308 in the original boxes, who the hell knows what they've been through, but they fire great.

They were $6.49 for a box of 40 from Payless / Longs. So says the price tag. HAHAHA

Where's the all of the above? In the poll.

I leave it in the factory box in a moisture controlled locked Homak gun cabinet.

Depends. If its one of the calibers I keep a lot of and it is the brand or type I don't set aside for some special reason, it all gets dumped into the ammo can. My 9mm ammo can probably has five different brands of plinking ammo in it...but the good stuff, the hp or the whatevers, they usually stay in their own boxes so I can ID them.

Regular ammo in cans and match stuff in the little blue box thingies.

I typically have a few hundred loose rounds stored in cans here and there, but the rest of my ammo is left in its factory packaging.

Anyone know how many .22lr rounds will fit into a 50cal Ammo Can?

I put all my ammo on 10 rnd stripper clips, then put the clips into a labeled cardboard box, that goes in my ammo can (nice and uniform, no clinking) :) That way theres no loose rounds, and cuts down minutes at a time loading them into mags.(and if done right, can store more ammo than if loose) If the ammo is hollowpoint, 5.56, or other specialty, I'll run a certain color of sharpie right down the middle of the cartridges(two thick lines) that are on the stripper clips, and label box accordingly. I have one can that I put away for storage, and I got some gray RTV silicone sealant and sealed the top of the can. Small bead inside, and a bead around the outer perimeter. :)
