Hi, I want to change out the 20" barrel on my girlfriends AR and I would like to go with an 18" barrel to save a little weight. I built this AR for her to be very accurate and easy to shoot prone or off of a bench. It currently has a 20" Shaw fluted bull barrel that has been pretty accurate for around 9,000 rounds but over the last few trips to the range the groups are really starting to open up. I want an accurate barrel but I would really like to stay under the $400 mark. Thank you for your help

This is a 16", just as accurate, but a little lighter...

White Oak Armament 18" SPR stainless barrel.

Nice choice. This is a good place to go if you don't like the stainless look and want it finished.

I have the WOA 18". It's still a little heavy, definitely not as light as a pencil barrel, but it's more accurate than I am.

Lilja would be a good barrel to consider......

Thank you all for your suggestions! I will check them out this morning. I have heard a lot of good things about ADCO so I think I may give them a call and see what the wait times are right now to get a barrel.

The SPR profile isn't very light.

How far is she shooting? Length only matters for velocity, so if you're shooting 200yds or less, you could easily cut down to a 16" barrel. Then a medium weight profile would work excellent for very nice groups.

This barrel beats the WOA barrel hands down:

I have a RRA 18" Varmint barrel. Sub MOA groups out of the box. Sub $300 too.

WOA(white oak armament) or CLE(Compass Lake Engineering)

IIRC, they are only $3xx.

I have the 18'' WOA SPR on my 3 gun AR.

Not a bad barrel, but I want to send it off to either get turned down a little or fluted, because it is definitely not light. Great for just regular shooting off the bench, but I like my rifles very light and handy.

I have been thinking about getting the JP ultra light or their medium contour barrel. Both are 18 inch, 1:8 twist with the wylde chamber.
