Can some explain just what this is used for on a scope? I don't need a technical explanation but a rather dumbed down Bubba example. I have a number of optics with these and I can't for the life of me tell the difference when I move the diopter around. What is it used for?

Are you talking about the eyepiece focus ring? That's used to bring the reticle in focus so it matches the focus of the lenses as you look at your target. It's for people who wear glasses or need to.

Only to focus the reticle.

Well then my eyes must be FUBAR. I do wear low power glasses but damn if the cross hairs aren't always a little blurry. I normally have to set my optics focal point 50 yards less then what I'm shooting or it comes out fuzzy.

Maybe time to see the eye doc again. Thanks guys.

Are we talking about inexpensive optics? If so, it could be the scope.
