Oh I went and done it now!!! Went to Big5 (san leandro)to get my SIL (Son In Law) his fishing license for next year for his Christmas gift .... browsed the gun rack... saw a Mossberg model 817 in 17HMR for $179.00 yup you guessed it....... :D pick up day is the 26th............also picked up a box of 100rnds of Remington sub-sonic 22lr for $7.99.

Good for you. I damn near picked up an M1 carbine marked 1944 GM for $600on on sale the other day from them. Don't feel guilty!! Love your new piece - sounds like a nice little gun.

ive seen the mossberg 17hmr too, looks like a neat little gun.

All the mil-surps were gone from the racks at the store. They only had 1 M44, No Carbines, 91/30's , no Styers,

No kidding - an M1 carbine on the rack. Call the Big 5 in Redwood City - they may still have it.

The Big 5 here still usually has an M1 in stock on the rack...but every time I've looked they're still asking a grand for it.

Congrats on your purchase, well when you take that little 17HMR beauty home be sure to put a couple of rounds through her at the range. You may want to get a box of each 17 gr and 20 gr bullets. Funny how some rifles like one bullet more then the others. My Ruger 77/17 will shoot anything 17 or 20 gr just as good. Now my Savages they all prefer the 20 gr ammo. Just my 2 cents.
