Well, I have a Yugo 59/66 I picked up used at Ades a few years ago for like $250. I installed a Monte carlo stock and a bi-pod. It is has been one of my favorite firearms. Mine didn't have a bayonet but it may have been removed by the previous owner. I hope this helps.

I bought my Chinese SKS ba9k in the 80's when you could buy thm for less than $80 otd.

I have fired several thousands of rounds over the years and have yet to have a single malfunction. I have seen and shot the Russian, Yugo and other sks makes and think the Chinese version is nicer. So much so rhat it is the only one I have.

Buy which ever one comes with the best price because they all are from the same design just made in different countries.

Yugo Sks M59/66 don't modify it, just enjoy it as is. Great firearms. I love the 10 round stripper clip configuration. In my opinion it's more practical than having 10 round mags since you can keep them loaded and the stripper clips themselves are just a few cents. I keep about 10 stripper clips loaded, on an AR that would be at least $150-$200 worth of magazines for the same task and you don't have to worry about damaging mags in the long run!

Get a norinco paratrooper model, with the 16 inch barrel, then put the fusion stock on. That would be sweet.

If you take your SKS and add a Tapco stock to it that includes a pistol grip and/or adjustable stock, it will require you to go the 922r route. Must have 10 or less foreign parts. That could increase the cost of the rifle by $200.00+ inlcuding the cost of the Tapco Fusion Stock.

I ran into the same 922r block when I looked at converting to the TAPCO stock. Also there seems to be more to the "drop-in" installation then advertised. Keep her original! :73:

59/66s can't be in CA unless the grenade launcher has been modified.

Bansherider, by any decent SKS and keep the bayonet on it. TAPCO makes stocks that have the bayonet cutout on the bottom.

Mine has a muzzle brake in place of the grenade launcher, forgot to mention that. Still has the grenade launcher sight, which impresses people when its up and on the bi-pod. :)
