alright guys. i want some honest opinions here. i finally deceided to get a dedicated 22lr upper for my ar build. ill get a 5.56/223 upper later when the smoke clears a little.

I was looking at the Velocity Firearms 22lr dedicated upper (http://velocityfirearms.com/cart/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=12&products_id=55) . My main concern was the carbon fiber upper. Any thought on this?

I was also still looking at the Spike's dedicated 22lr upper as well. I prefer to save the $200 and get the Velocity Firearms though. Not to mention it is in stock. I will only be doing indoor range shooting with this anyways.

Gunkings doesnt have any TS uppers in stock. Its preorder only. For the same price you can get a Spikes or Model 1 Sales upper.

When I was looking at buying an upper a couple of months ago I was debating the same thing. I searched on AR15 and was told to stay away from the Velocity uppers. Just my 2 cents, I don't have personal experience with them.

I do know that both Spikes and Model 1 products are excellent.

I'm waiting to hear of any personal experience with one of their uppers. I'm tempted to drop a few bills to buy one. They have a bull barrel, .22lr upper FF handguards, and it looks o.k. for $325. They're cost effective, and if its a piece of crap, disclaim it and sell it for 200 bucks.

I see these pictures posted on AR15.com every time someone even mentions Vulcan:

First off, we're talking about a dedicated .22, so a polymer upper isn't an issue. Here are a few reviews.

I'm curious to find out how the vulcan lower pictured was damaged, was it from firing it or from someone trying to remove the Glued parts, is the expoxy used to glue the magazine stronger that the aluminum lower, my guess is yes.

BTW, I've owned a velocity firearms .22lr upper for a few years now and I've havent had any problems, it appears to be using some components similar to the ones in the very common cmmg .22 conversion kits. no complaints here.

We have sold tons of these uppers and so far no issues , 20 uppers went to a Police Dept and no complaints, and to set the record straight Velocity IS NOT VULCAN OR HESSE .

I have a Velocity upper. I have about 2 bricks of .22 through it. I would recommend it. I put the Velocity upper on a Cav Arms polymer lower. I have an AR-style .22 rifle that weighs less than my girlfriend's 10/22.

Those 22 uppers seem pricey; how about just getting a complete AR style 22LR rifle for a little more:

I run a Velocity Carbon upper receiver on my 5.56 AR pistol. It is lightweight and in-spec.

I cannot vouch for their barrels as I use a cut-down Colt on my pistol.

I bought a Velocity upper about 6 months ago. I bought the 103 model not the 101 but I have had zero issues with it. I love to shoot and can go through about 250 to 300 rds on any given weekend. I don't know if the previous names of the company had a bad record but my upper is amazing and crazy accurate. Hope this helps. Just for general knowledge, the Smith and Wesson AR style 22's feel more like a toy, like an airsoft gun rather than a real firearm, does what it is supposed to and very cheap but I sold mine in less than a week after shooting it. The velocity attaches to pretty much any standard lower receiver, that is what I like the most, being able to interchange it.
