I searched w/o much luck. :(

There are some local FFL dealer's (the actual licensees) who go to the Reno gunshow. I haven't asked because I don't know if it is legal, but can they buy a gun for me at the show, transport it back to California and then sell it to me and DROS it, etc.? I had been told that guns coming into California had to go by common carrier, etc. but I wonder about having an actual FFL licensee just bring it back instead.

I don't know if it would be a Nevada FFL to California FFL sale or a Nevada resident (non FFL) to California FFL sale, but it would likely be one or the other. I know a non-FFL cannot do it.

As described, the sale would go first to a CA FFL - exactly the correct procedure.

So it is OK, then, for the licensed FFL to buy and transport the gun back to his place of business from the gunshow himself, and then process it as a California sale to me? Of course I am assuming the gun is totally permissable to sell in Calif. and can then be DROS'd etc. as a dealer sale. If the FFL can do the transport, is saves on shipping fees, packaging, delays, etc.

Yes, an FFL can buy out of state and physically bring a gun into CA.
