Just wondering after we get 2A incorporation, what are the chances we can have NFA items? What are the roadblocks that need to be taken down?

Heller said the machine gun ban was basically a-okay. Gura went out of his way to make clear in oral arguments that stuff like that was scary and not in question. Somewhat amusingly, the main rationale in Heller for upholding that sort of ban is the "in common use" test. This is amusing because the main thing preventing them from being in common use is the NFA itself. But circular reasoning left in place long enough becomes precedent unto itself.

Not soon, but down the road we'll likely be able to compel the issuance of the permits necessary to get much of the NFA stuff. These will be about the last things dealt with though.

Sorry if it has been posted before but it's hard to sort through it all...what is the order in which you guys intend to fight these limitations?

CCW, Roster, AW Ban, Hi-Caps ? or whatever presents itself first with a good test case?

CCW would most definitely need to be #1 on that list, and then whatever is considered next important. But I'm worried that if we get SI, there will be so many restrictions on a CCW permit that it would be virtually impossible to legally carry anywhere other than inside your bathroom, no?

Erik; on to "them".

Ya know, it's about time we actually challenged the NFA status of suppressors. In a day of complaints about noise, introducing non-firearms oriented folks into shooting, and needing to have more US made products people will buy, loosening the regulation of suppressors just makes sense. They're common in a lot of countries with considerably less freedom than ours, even required in some places! Instead of "Only if we approve, and we don't" , shouldn't they be saying "That's loud, put a muffler on it now!" ?

I actually agree that that is something we should be able to challenge relatively quickly but not from CA. That should be brought in Texas in the 5th Circuit. There is no rational basis to strictly control silencers. Poaching isn't a clear and present danger...

But if you watch the Hollywood movies, it allows assassins to kill babies at will without ever being heard.

How do you go about getting a suppressor repression relief case to court? Ranges closing due to noise complaints suffering undue burden?

I was talking about some of Englands laws with a couple buddies of mine (one actually a gun owner in England) and they were complaining about how back there if you have a handgun with a barrel greater than 9" long you're REQUIRED to put a shoulder stock on it.

We were talking about how we'd kill for that option here in the US.

It's about time somebody did a demonstration for what a suppressor actually can do "for" the legislature....People seems to think all you can hear is the movement of the slide.

Sounds better fate?

OSHA should mandate suppressors as a required safty device due to loud and damaging sounds.

Since AB23 defines a threaded barrel as a assault feature, we have to get rid of AB23 first so that we can have threaded barrels for our suppressors.

Not all suppressors are attached by threads. The Gemtech HALO for example attaches to a standard A2 flash hider. The SR-25 package also uses a suppressor that does not thread on to the barrel.
