The Mayors Against Illegal Guns released their list of the top states "responsible for the bulk of illegal guns that are shipped across state lines for use in crimes."

About 30 percent of guns traced by federal agents in 2006 and 2007 during crime investigations were bought in a state other than where the crime occurred, said the report by Mayors Against Illegal Guns, which largely blamed the transport of illegal guns on states with lax gun laws.

For 2007, the top sources for guns used in crimes elsewhere were Georgia, Florida, Texas, Virginia, California, Ohio, North Carolina, Indiana, Pennsylvania and Alabama.

Admittedly, the report does say that the list is different when factoring in per capita statistics, but those early paragraphs gave me a chuckle.

So, I guess we have to make the illegal transportation and sale of illegally-obtained firearms sold to those prohibited from owning them MORE illegal. I'm telling you, it's not illegal enough

If CA has "lax" gun laws, then I have a 14-inch...

If CA has "lax" gun laws, then I have a 14-inch......barrel on your rifle? Better send that to Chicago so their statistics don't drop off. ;)

I hope that thing is registered...

That's funny - Brady (http://www.stategunlaws.org/viewstate.php?st=CA&choose_state=Go) ( :puke: alert!) ranks CA best in the US for gun laws.

who was it that said that statistics can mean whatever you want them to mean at any time?

IIRC that was Paul Helmke on the recent NPR debate.

They seem to defeat their own arguments.
