Hypothetical gun ban question

Let's say all the doom and gloom 2A predictions of the new administration come to pass.

Let's say they manage to shove through some sort of assault weapons/gun ban.

How do you think this will affect the ability to purchase gun parts? I am talking non-controlled items like uppers, parts kits, etc.

In other words, if you stock up on some stripped lowers are you good to go confident that you have the insurance in hand to complete a build in the future?

Your hypothetical is not possible to answer with any degree of certainty.

How about we hold off the "what'll this do?" until they actually have something in writing that could be analyzed.

'confident'? No. But as prepared as possible considering the likely future events and the small amount of spare cash available for gun purchases.
My preference would be to buy whole rifles now, rather than Hope.

This has been gone over ad nauseum... short answer, "who knows". Long answer, if they ban parts, parts are banned. If they don't ban parts, parts are not banned. You and I know as well as anyone else what will or won't make it through the next round of ban attempts.

Well, seeing as how there is NOTHING left at the wholesale level right now - for real - and all the manufacturers are backlogged, passage of a real, bonafide gun ban on top of the craziness we are actually experiencing would ensure that all gun stores would be stripped bare of EVERYTHING.

If there is anything you want or need, you better buy it now - if you can.

EDIT: Think I misunderstood the original post.

Most likely thing to happen is a reauthorization of the '94 ban, but even more draconian. Parts shouldn't be an issue except for flash suppressors, just like last time.

In any case, buy now.

I would not go crazy on the purchases thinking that you can re-sell them later as you don't know that you will legally be able to sell them later

'94 did not ban AR-15 parts as a whole, just flash hiders and bayonet lugs. So if the new ban i the same as the old then parts are ok, but they've banned parts before so it's not a huge stretch to bad AR-15's part by part.....Who knows....

I would focus on having full rifles and an additional lower for every 2 complete rifles.

I have been planning for "Hypothetical gun bans" since before Roberti Roos..RAWs, Highcap mags, ammo and spare parts etc. Gorged myself on OLLs since late 2005/early 2006 and only slow down this summer..

Buy what you can when you can..

I have all the guns I need, but I buy new ones anyway. Now days, I buy or build guns in either 9mm, 45ACP, 223, 12 GA, or 7.62x39. I have others, but I'm loading up on ammo now. It's easier to buy ammo in bulk and be able to feed several firearms with the same ammo. I'll get into reloading soon enough. I have a good supply of spare parts for all my guns too. I just don't see the need to buy a bunch of lowers and hope I can buy uppers for them later. All my guns go bang now and I don't need to worry about getting parts to make them work later on down the road.
