Went over to the In-Laws this morning to try again,
last week I got there to late twice  the sun had already come up and they were out of the Roost.
This time I got there early and got setup under the Roost.
Come light I only saw one Tom in the top of the tree, but he was Huge.
Anyway; when he came down he went awy from me and did not present a shot, also about a dozon more showed up, but they saw me and went the other way, so the Stalk was on.
After 45 minutes of Stalking I could not get closer than 40 yds or so, and then they were about to cross onto the neighbors property.
I figured this is my last chance so I put pin #3 on the back of a smaller Tom and Let it Fly.
Bam he was hit square in the back at 45 yards :dancing_bananna:

I like the fact that you didnt buy it frozen from a supermarket, and that you nailed it with a bow. Now do wild turkeys taste different from farm raised, is there meat tougher or dryer.

Way to go man, I am seriously jealous. I have been down to the Julian area a couple of times this year and while the turkeys are everywhere, they are all on private land. Cook that sucker up.

That thing sticking out of the turkey is that the pop up button? My Safeway bird has a smaller pop up that tells me when it's done.
Kidding aside, I miss getting a fresh turkey like this, Turkey seems to taste better when you harvest it yourself. Nice shot and congrats.

It will be getting that Peanut Oil bath for sure and marinaited with
Cajun Marinaide ;)
They can be Dryer but the Oil bath should keep it Juicy.
The taste is alittle richer than farm raised.

Nice Work - I almost had my first Turkey with a bow as well this month, but I got nothing but hens under my stand in Texas, I could have had a bearded hen...but thats just weird ;)

I could have had a bearded hen...but thats just weird ;)You wouldn't be saying that if this discussion was about clams.

Wild turkey meat is the best. It taste better and is a lot more filling.
