So, were workign with a comercial buffer tube, trying to install a Vltor stock and it looks like the buffer tube is short?

Are there different length buffer tubes for A1 or A2?

So, do we need a longer tube or extension? What about buffers, will this application need a longer (rifle length buffer) or carbine? its on a 6.8.

Thanks!:cool2:

A1 and A2 buffer tubes describes RIFLE length tubes. They are exactly the same (except for A2 stock spacer and longer screw) for non-adjustable rifle stocks. There is not a commercial and milspec diameter rifle length tube. With this tube you should use the longer rifle buffer.

Do you have a carbine length multi-position tube? If so, this should be used with a carbine buffer.

A picture of what you have would be very helpful.

A1 and A2 tubes are the same...the buttstock changed.

Any stock made for an A2 requires an extension that simply drops into the stock tunnel before you fit the stock onto the tube. It will also require the longer A2 stock screw.

Couldn't have said it better. :)
